From the first page of The Site, Carlos Valran succeeds in grabbing the reader’s attention, sparking a sense of suspense and an eagerness to read as fast as possible to discover the unusual situation around Cicely and her dreams.

You get to know Charles Ryder and Vivian through the vivid dreams that baffle Cicely and she seeks the help of Dr McClellan, a psychiatrist recommended by her friend, to help her make sense of it. The adventures of Charles and Vivian is absolutely compelling, and it keeps you glued to the pages.
You wonder throughout the whole story how Cicely is involved with Charles and Vivian, speculating all kinds of scenarios about what their connection can be and then find that the true reason is quite surprising. The fighting scene towards the end of the book is written exceptionally well and is so tension evoking that is has your heart racing as if you are personally involved in the battle.
I admire the tension building ability of Mr. Valran.

Something that I found negative about The Site, is the many foreign words used for the alien objects, but I suppose it can’t be helped. A full six pages were needed to be dedicated to the explanation of the meaning of the words, in the Glossary, and I’m sorry to say it hampered the pace and enjoyment of the book. I also found the winding down of the story after Cicely goes on the hunt for Charles to be disappointing.
Due to this unfortunate fact, I score this book 3 out of 4 stars.

I recommend The Site to all Sci-fi junkies as well as readers who love adventure stories. It has quite a few “fasten your seat belt and hold on” moments.
