It does seem weird to label COVID as a historical event considering the fact that so many people are still getting and dying from the disease, many workplaces are still remote and many venues/business are not able to open. But congratulations on book of the day!

A story involving nuclear meltdowns, brain injuries, and massive civil unrest would leave an impact on any reader, so thank you for sharing your helpful analysis of this storyline and plot.

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how the Matters family was able to survive amidst all the hurdles it encountered. I like that Roy incorporated the current events in the novel southeast people can relate as they read this drama novel.

Thanks for the review. However, you did not state exactly which genre the book was part of.

Anyway, it seems like a very relavent book to read for people to identify with after all that has happened in the last year or so. It would be interesting to read

I love historical fiction, but sadly this particular storyline left me indifferent. Not only the book describes present times, but also revolves around numerous tragedies. I search something light to read currently, to take my mind of everything going on in reality. Still, congrats on BOTD!

This reminds me of a discussion I had with a friend on "The curse of the middle class". There may be a lot of frequent situations experienced by these families, that need answers and solutions. Indeed, I relate well to this theme. Great review!

Thank you for your review. I read the sample pages and just didn't connect with the book. I'm sure there is a wide audience so congratulations on BOTD!

Today's BOTD is a historical fiction novel that takes place in 2020 during the pandemic and the BLM protests. I love that this story unfolds during more recent times than most books of the genre! I feel that readers will make deeper connections with the characters and what they are going through because these events still feel fresh in our minds. I've added this to my WTR list. Thank you for the helpful review!! :-)

Everyone has gone through tragedies in this pandemic... For some it was small and for some, it was like a hell. This book is like a reminder too for future readers.

I am sure many of us will relate to this story as Covid-19 affected people from all over the world. It was specifically tough for working mothers like Mary. Great review.

The book seems really inspiring. I'm amazed at how Mary managed to cope with all the challenges in her life. Not many people would have done the same and I believe way more people would have given up. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This seems to be an intriguing story, indeed. It's fascinating that it contains historical elements, and such a recent situation. I'm glad to know that fact that it's well-written, and the unique characters part of this intriguing story reinforce the beautiful work created by the author.

The synopsis of the story sounds like it is a gripping and heart-tugging read. I read the sample and was immediately confused about a character. It begins with mom, introduces the younger son, Marty, and then brings in the older son, Jason; suddenly, Marty disappears and a Ricky is there instead. Several paragraphs later, Ricky disappears and Marty comes back. My hope is that the rest of the story is less confusing, because it seems like a fantastic book. Great review!
