These days we are seeing a trend. There are many heroes unsung and stories untold that are waiting to get recognition. And thankfully they are getting their due through books and movies. This Korean war that got overshadowed by Vietnam war seems to be a wonderful and an engaging story that finally got a platform and hopefully an audience in form readers too. I am not particularly fond of war stories but I can say this- never say never. Great review.

I am one of the many not knowing much about the Korean war. Where surely I would learn a lot, it is not high on my list to read since I prefer fiction.

An interesting book about a war that many do not remember or know about. The author has employed three sources of reference for this novel; eyewitnesses, interpretation of official records, and stories about the men that served there. I thought the personal stories added realism to the narrative, and I liked the verses from songs that were popular during that period. Thank you for the detailed review on this book.

Most importantly Klein instills the feeling of victory. He shows that even though the soldiers were just ordinary without any special rank, their attitude was enough for them to outwit the opposing side. The author highlights that even the most ordinary of men can do the most extraordinary things when they have a set focus. As proven by the events in the book, his quote, “We are a whole lot better than we are told” stands true.

I consider myself a pacifist, but that doesn't mean that the courageous people who fought for what they thought to be right don't deserve to have their stories told, and their valiance recognized, so I'm glad there's a book like this to enlighten us about an overlooked period.

This book from the review happens to be a great true story which depicts real fact about what happened along time ago. But with the uniqueness it is no where to be found in history. And also in style shows that it is more fulfilling when you are unique and you make others unique. A great book.
