This book tells the story of Victoria, a young Pakistani girl, and the challenged she has faced in life. She endured bullying within the Muslim community, was forced into an arranged marriage, and experienced a turbulent political time in 1977. This seems like a compelling book. Congrats on BOTD!

There is more emotional trauma in this heart-rending story than I can possibly digest. I will have to pass this one. Thanks for the awesome review!

An illuminating and considered review. Isn't it interesting how Pakistani culture over-rides religion? My perception of Pakistan as a state that does not tolerate diversity, simplistic as that may be, seems disturbingly borne out by this book.

Victoria endured a lot just because of her faith and believes. I'm sure there are readers that can relate to her. It is unjust to religiously persecute other people. This is a very detailed review. I loved it.

The story sounds like a touchy subject. I feel really helpless and distressed hearing the religious tensions in Pakistan, bullying should be banned there. I am stunned to know about the rape culture in Pakistan, specially the part where the families and friends shunned the victim instead of being by her side and helping her fight for the cause. Thanks for the insightful review.

I wouldn't know if Victoria was compounding her dilemma due to her nature. But I hope she finds a way to make peace.

Book seems to provide a deep insight into religious tensions prevailing in under developed countries like pakistan and helps readers to know the hardships faced by women in such conditions.
Thanks for the review.

Prejudice like this is never OK, but it sadly happens everywhere to different groups depending on where you are and which group(s) have the most power there. Sharing accounts like this one will hopefully bring more attention to prejudice overall. It also seems like an interesting glimpse into Pakistani culture and recent history from the perspective of a woman who actually lived and grew up there. Thank you for the helpful review.

Getting bullied for having different beliefs is really frustrating. Victoria is definitely strong. Congrats on BOTD!

Today's Book of the Day will appeal to Christians who have been ridiculed and bullied because of their faith. A reader learns more about Pakistan’s culture and "explores religious tension between Muslims and Christians, discrimination, and forgiveness." I'll surely read this book.

Victoria is a very complex character. Her hardships were disheartening to read about her bullying experience. I read with the utmost fascination as she went from being discriminated, participating in bullying herself to a fully grown and empowered adult woman that has finally made peace with those around her. Congrats on BOTD!

I’m eager to read Victoria’s story. It’s quite intriguing to find out that Christians also go through arranged marriages in Pakistani and how rape victims are been treated even in the church. Thanks for the review.

This tells a marvelous story of how the diversity of culture, big impact from religion, separates us as human beings and make us divided into groups that aren't willing to understand each other. Thanks for the wonderful review! <3

This book sounds like an insightful and emotional roller coaster book. Like it's one of those novels that draws you deep in so much so that you don't want to take a break until you're done. I think this is also great to understand Muslim and Pakistan culture. Thank you!

I love books which describes the culture of a particular country. Although the story talks about the tensions between Muslims and Christians, i would like to read the book to undestand the culture of Pakistan. Thank you for the great review.
