I love to read fiction because it allows me to use my imagination as I create how each character looks, talks, and behaves in their surroundings. Nonfiction opens my mind in a different way - I'm learning something new with each page and feel empowered after completing a book.

I enjoy reading because quite simply, a book is like a movie that plays in your mind while you read the words in it, and Reading is like Calgon, it takes me away.

Reading, to me, is like a travel passport in your mind. With a good book, you can go anywhere you want to and experience things right along with the characters without having to leave the comfort of your home or wherever else you're reading at. I don't like how some people think I read because I have to read. I read because I want to read, and I like how I can picture a movie in my mind by reading a good book, like Kryshonda said.

Latest Review: "An A-Hole Goes On Vacation" by Andy Ostrom

Reading, for me, started off as a means to improve my spoken and written English. Now, the reason for reading is much more. In this stressful life, all I want to do every minute of the day is curl up with a cup of coffee and a wonderful book. I end up reading while commuting! Wishful thinking, ha! I am a huge fan of fiction. I do't have the patience for non-fiction. Reading to me is leaving your own sweet, bad world and enjoy the adventures of the author's world, letting your imagination run wild with the author's words and losing yourself completely in the world of fantasy.

I like to read because it is a break from "my" reality. You can go on adventures or through a good murder investigation or a romance and never even leave your house!!!

I like reading because it gives me the opportunity to go anywhere I want. I can go to the past or even the future. I can stay in the US, or go to somewhere I have only dreamed to visit. It also gives me a place to go to get away from the daily stresses of life.

As someone who gained highest education through an online school, reading books is for me an ongoing educative process. I like acquiring knew ideas about people and things. The process helps me in questioning embedded convictions. I heard someone say during a TV show that the big enemy of truth is not a lie, but an ingrained conviction. So reading books participates in the activity of truth preservation.

I like reading because it can take me somewhere else, I like getting lost in a story and as others have mentioned it can be an escape. When you have had a hard morning at work you can read on lunch and feel like you have had a proper break.

I'm also amazed by the emotions you can experienced by well written book.

I think reading has made me more intelligent - there wasn't much to improve on! lol

I like it because you can get totally lost in a new world. I love books where I you can tell that the author has the whole world mapped out and you are just seeing a small part of it. I know when I really love a book because I start to imagine I'm part of it and incorporate it into other worlds of my own.

To escape my life for a little, its also nice to learn new things, see the world from another persons perspective. It stimulates my mind.
