Hi all, after decades of being an evangelical Christian,I am now a nonbeliever, but I still like my romances with kisses that make you swoon,weak-in-the-knees,and powerful spark-flying physical attraction, but no sex scenes, or profanity, but now prefer no god-talk,either!
However, I also would love to be able to find books such as those by Marcia Lynn McClure's whose Highwayman To Tanglewood is my favorite romance. She is the ONLY romance author that I know who writes romance with my above criteria.
Would also love to see some hispanic male/white female romances,Please,Please,Please!

Unless they've changed very, very considerably they are certainly not graphic (unless you've led a very sheltered life)booklvr62 wrote:I believe their books are the same, either Christian or graphic!Fran wrote:Mills & Boon perhaps?

Ok, when I saw some of the categories on their site~ Desire,Spice,Blaze, plus the Love Inspired line,it looked liked an 'either/or' situation. Guess I will have to try some of their books that are not in the Love Inspired line, thanks!Fran wrote:Unless they've changed very, very considerably they are certainly not graphic (unless you've led a very sheltered life)booklvr62 wrote:I believe their books are the same, either Christian or graphic!Fran wrote:Mills & Boon perhaps?

I sort of think this is one reason why Twilight was so successful - girls go crazy for a guy who takes 200 pages to get around to kissing them.
How can we encourage more authors to write like that?

I want to be able to read a good "CLEAN"romance story without being subjected to the annoying/ridiculous religious proselytizing!booklvr62 wrote:Well that's the thing...there are many, many,Christian and Amish-themed 'Clean' romances, which a very large fan-base,so why can't/wont non Christian authors write 'Clean' romances so we could enjoy them without having to be preached at? I want to read a realistic romance without all the stuff about how some god will make everything all hunky dory when that is absolutely not real life.

I do remember as a kid wondering about things like going to the bathroom - did you ever notice no one in classic literature, or anyway not so I have noticed, goes to the bathroom? And they just didn't kiss unless they were engaged, and they didn't swear, ever.
So many people use "bad" words as a matter of course now, and the filth that is available at the library is astonishing.
We seem to have come around now to a place where bathroom humor is acceptable even in places like The Disney Channel.
So while in a way it is good that we aren't so very prudish, really, now, how many bathroom jokes can you take? They aren't that funny to start with, and most kids get over them after fifth grade.

Have you read all the old romances? I love Pride and Prejudice and Lorna Doone. If you want clean you should avoid Candide and Madame Bovary, hmmm - stick to English books! I don't think the French have ever been... reticent...when it comes to these topics.booklvr62 wrote:Well that's the thing...there are many, many,Christian and Amish-themed 'Clean' romances, which a very large fan-base,so why can't/wont non Christian authors write 'Clean' romances so we could enjoy them without having to be preached at?
