Re: Cecilia being Lucifer's daughter is compatible with her personality?

Post by Kirsi Cultrera »

I think that the author created a very interesting conflict within Cecilia’s character. She has a human side and a demonic side in her personality, and these two sides are constantly colliding. I don’t see why a daughter should be exactly like her father. I mean, my children are definitely not exactly like me. Maybe the father would wish her to be more like him, but isn’t it quite often the case in real life too that our children are not what we wish them to be? Why should it be different with Lucifer’s daughter? To conclude, I think it makes the character more plausible and also more interesting!

I think having a different personality than the cliche adds more to the storyline than just being the evil princess of darkness. There is always more than just good or just evil to a personality and it takes time to find out what and who you are. Especially when you are dealing with high-school children.
I like the way Rachael S 1 puts it that Cecelia having a different personality to the one expected adds more to the storyline. I also agree that one's personality takes time to develop as one experiences more of life, so I think the author did a good job with Cecelia's personality.

I haven't gotten too far into the book yet, but perhaps Cecilia's personality is different for several reasons. Maybe the author wants to show there is some good in everyone (except Lucifer), or maybe Cecilia is hiding her true self and will reveal it later as the story goes on. It is an interesting concept whatever the reason to give her a different personality than her father!

I agree that Cecilia's personality is not compatible to what the Lucifer's daughter should have. Moreover, I tend to agree with the author's development of Cecilia's character. In my opinion, the author maybe wanted to create something else that would make the person reading the book surprised. Also, still on the author, maybe wanted to bring out the idea that children don't necessarily inherit personal traits of their parents.

Honestly, I'm kind of torn on this. On one hand, it's ridiculous to assume that a child will be a carbon copy of their parents. On the other, it's not unimaginable for the child to have some similarities. In my opinion, I think that - while it makes sense for Cecilia to be different from her father - a few more similarities would've definitely spiced up the story.

Susan Gibbs wrote: 01 Dec 2021, 09:08 It sounds like Cecelia has many elements to her personality. AS the story progresses, she develops the softer parts of her personality. This shows that there is good and evil in everyone. As you mention, it makes her character more three-dimensional and interesting, less of a cliche. I think it is believable that the Princess of Hell could exhibit other less evil parts to her personality.
That makes sense! But I still can't help but wonder - Cecilia is such an interesting character in the sense that she's constantly changing, sometimes in small and unnoticable ways, but changes nonetheless. But that still makes me wonder about her "Princess of Hell" title. If she really was a true princess of hell, wouldn't she be more intimidating? For me, it's a really complicated thing to consider.

Cecelia's personality does not seem compatible with her being Lucifer's daughter and it all boils down to stereotypes. We expect her to behave like her father, Lucifer but we should realize that children may be impressionable but they can also have believes and opinions themselves.
That being said Cecelia emerging with a unique personality of hers is going to make this novel really interesting

When I first read the book, it was hard to believe Cecilia was Lucifer's child. I mean, her personality was unique and varied from the reader's expectations. That made the story more interesting.

I agree. Having a personality different from the reader's expectations spiced up the tale greatly. The twist in the storyline made me want to read more about Cecil.

Sure enough. I believe that even if Cecil would have inherited her mum's evil nature, external factors like environment would have shaped her into becoming someone better.

If everybody followed their parents footsteps carefully, the world would be so much less variegated. I think it's good that, characterwise, Cecilia is different from what one would expect: it gives her colour. We should not forget that characters are people, after all. Every teen I know tries to be as far from their parents as possible😅

I think that children frequently have personalities that are very different from their parents' personalities, so it's not terribly surprising that Cecilia is different. Plus, I think that it's more interesting that she's different from Lucifer as well!

Cecilia having a different personality from her father does not make them less blood relation. Infant, the book became more interesting, mystical, and suspenseful through this. I believe Cecilia is able to adopt any traits she wants.

Cecilia is a very complex character. She is rebellious and complains a lot, which I would attribute those traits being from Lucifer. Her sentimental attachment to the pocket watch that was given to her by a savior gives her less appeal to Lucifer. I believe she adapted to being raised in Hell but didn't really adopt her father's indoctrination.

She was like her father for many years but she never forgot the goodness she received when she was rescued from her mother. I think this goodness from her savior influenced her conscience.
