I love historical fiction, and this book takes place in one of my preferred time/location settings. I’m glad that this isn’t one of those love-at-first-sight kind of books, instead being more realistic in that Joan didn’t even see her future husband before the marriage and then discovered a man who’s cold in distant. Joan’s forbidden friendship with a kitchen maid mentioned in the Amazon summary is also enticing. Thank you for the helpful review.

Joan must have had a lot of expectations before she got married which turned up to be a disappointment, she must have gone through a lot because the husband was stubborn. This is a must read for me. Otherwise congrats on BOTD.
