The Devil Pulls The Strings by J. W. Zarek is a fantasy novel that tells the story of Boone Daniels, a 22-year-old man who has been alone ever since his parents and dog disappeared as a 6-year-old child. A wendigo, a violent spirit that inhabits the body of a person and possesses him to commit murder stalks him and gives him panic attacks. Boone developed some weird abilities as a child after he gets kicked in the head by a horse. Boone almost kills his best friend, Flynn, in a joust and is overcome by guilt. The only way he can make it up to his friend is to fill in for him at a New York gig with Flynn's band; the village Idiots- A promise he makes to Flynn. A first-timer in New York City, Boone is to meet a Professor Stone but his arrival at the professor's residence meets the death of the professor who is killed because he has a very rare and ancient Paganini's music in his possession. Boone later finds out that his mission to New York City, somehow is entwined with the ancient Paganini's music, and once determined to fulfill his promise to Flynn, Boone finds himself in a series of time travel, adventures with secret societies, and a long time prophecy made of Boone to save New York City and the whole world at large. Can young Bonne do this at the cost of his own life?

The Devil Pulls The Strings is a very interesting novel packed with a lot of adventures and fascinating events. I love how the author described the scenes in the book so well that I found myself seeing the actions being performed in the book in my mind, almost like I was seeing a movie. The book was able to hold my attention to the end because the end of every chapter would make the reader want to know what would happen next in the book. I admire Boone, the protagonist in the novel, and of course my favorite character. I admired his doggedness at every point, his loyalty to Flynn, and how he and Sapphire, Professor Stone's assistant, got along so well. Apart from the fact that the novel is packed with a lot of adventures and exciting events, it's also filled with lessons and one of the take-home lessons for me is that most times, facing our fears would not only do us good but in a way, we would be helping certain people around us too. This book teaches that courage is what it takes to better our lives and our world at large. I must commend J. W. Zarek for a job well done.

I enjoyed reading this book from beginning to end, I did not find any errors and I do not have any negative comments about it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed reading the book. The narrative is straightforward, there are no plot twists of any kind and I must say that the book was exceptionally well-edited.

I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy, heroic tales, and tales of adventures with a perfect blend of music.

Oh, how crazy it is. Normal people get kicked in the head by a horse and they die, but not Boone. He gets kicked and he develops powers. How cool is that? Thanks for the lovely review.

Boone's ability was really cool
Imagine being able to play any music only once after listening to it.

Getting powers just by getting a kick in the head by a horse is something you don't come across every time. Boone seems like a man of his word, trying to keep his promise to Flynn. Nice job with your review.
