Review of Why Can't Johnny Just Quit?
Why Can’t Johnny Just Quit? was written by Kyle Oh, M.D. This is a realistic book that offers lessons on how to overcome drug addiction, as well as the effects of intoxication from painkillers, alcohol, and other narcotics. This book unraveled the secrets of what prompted individuals to transition from pain treatment to opiate addiction after surgery or injury. Read this book to the end if you want to learn about real-life stories from patients who are addicted to narcotics for pain relief and why some people become addicted while others do not.
The book detailed the fascinating experiences of addicts and revealed crucial information about pain relievers prescribed by doctors to alleviate pain following a surgical procedure or serious wounds. However, a shocking story about why some people reach the point of addiction was told. The author provided comprehensive information that would benefit parents, doctors, educators, and others.
On the positive side, I loved reading this book because of the valuable insights that the author imparted. This book opened my eyes to the underlying reason why patients hesitate to stop taking drugs like pain relievers. What I loved best about the book was the author's story of how to avoid becoming addicted. The author's revelations of true-life experiences piqued my interest.
The story about the downfall of any addiction, marijuana, addiction overlap, the opioid pandemic, alcoholism and genetics, and others was another element of the book that I enjoyed. This sparked my curiosity and got my attention. The article captivated me because of the unique details that would provide a wealth of information to any reader. However, this book provided me with the opportunity to learn something new.
On the negative side, I dislike the book's title because it does not correspond to the content of the book. When I first started reading the novel, I assumed it would focus more on Johnny, the main character. However, I was shocked when the book concentrated less on Johnny and more on pain relievers and other topics. However, I understood what the author was attempting to convey to the audience when he included the word "Quit" as part of the title.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book had a compelling story. In the book, the author presents vital information that will give readers real-life experience and pique their interest.
The book was exceptionally well edited and well written. The sentences were well structured, and the story described in the book was captivating. There were no errors that I found.
I would recommend the book to people who are struggling with addiction and those who want to learn more about what causes addictions. This book will also appeal to readers who like novels that teach important lessons.
