I had the opportunity to read the book and completely agree with the review. Lily is full of life, and James is so brave and determined. The book is fantastic, but I didn't like the dialogues either. Thanks for the review, it's great!

I like the contrast between a slave life and playing the piano. It is commendable that Lily is conceived as a sublime character in the middle of an environment that propagates completely opposite values. I think that the dialogues are well written and that they are in the right places.

Lily and James' story is a story that loves indeed conquers all. Lily was sold into slavery by her father. In the house of her new owner, she becomes a friend with her son, James. James with time love Lily. Lily was a good organist but her colour served as a barrier that would stop her from playing for the world.

Sounds like a great romantic historical book. From what I've read in the sample, I found the author's writing style exquisite, amazing and the dialogue drew me in immensely. So, I'm looking forward to reading it completely. Also, I believe the author made a fantastic job with character development.

"The Prodigy Slave, Book One: Journey to Winter Garden" by Londyn Skye. An historical fiction about Lily and her ability to play the piano. Her relationship with James made her happy aside her family. Congrats on BOTD.

As an African-American woman, I personally love to read stories about anything relating to slavery to understand my history. The romance element to this book seems quite interesting as well. Congratulations on book of the day!

I’ve had a chance to read and review this book myself, and it truly was an emotional story with extraordinary characters. Lily’s character was very easy to fall in love with, as you said. I loved the unpredictability of this story, as I could never guess what would happen next. And the ending really was quite a cliffhanger! I am looking forward to the sequel.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this book!

I'm hoping that James' "punishment" is something positive, otherwise I don't want to read the book. I'm not sure how I feel about the slavery part, but since it's a historical romance, I'm going to check it out. Thank you for the review!

Romantic historical fiction is not really my thing, but from the review, it seems the book has a whole lot more to offer than just romance. Can't wait to read!

The accent thing is so unfortunate! When I come across books that have issues like these, my review (in terms of stars) gets capped at 3 out of 5! I wish the author had focused more on this or taken feedback from a beta reader!

Lily doesn't get romantic with James? That would be a bummer... Would love to read whether she gets to find her mom though. Great review
