A school is more than just a place for learning how to read and write. A school is not just a place to learn how to speak correctly. A school is not just an environment for learning manners. A school is indeed so much more than these. A school is a platform for character shaping and development; it is a place for improvement of the mental capacity and stability of the students. It is also a place for grooming. It is also an avenue to make a better society.

Did You Bring a Bed Bug to School Today? is an inspiring book written by Verna Fender. It focuses on cultivating an emotionally safe and stable environment for students in urban communities. This book buttresses the challenges faced in the course of training and educating children in urban communities. It also discusses how to meet these challenges squarely. The urban schools are schools in cities, and they are also categorically divided. Urban schools are faced with lots of challenges and problems like lack of funding or support from the government or private agencies and individuals, and this may not be encouraging.

As the book progresses, the author further emphasizes the welfare of a child, school, and community. Children who are victims of abuse or come from low-income families lack full participation in school activities. Usually, their attendance at activities is poor. Children with no hope of getting meals in their families have been proven to lack concentration in schools, those with no roof over their head lack self-worth and pride, and they feel less of themselves, considering others to be better than them. This book states how situations like this could be helped and managed. The author further stated why children might be performing the way they are in school. If you are curious to learn more about students and their behaviors, this is the perfect book for you.

I found some positive aspects of this book. First of all, it is an inspiring and knowledgeable book. It is filled with delightsome information on children, families, and schools. Also, in every chapter, stories are embedded to buttress the author's point concerning any issue being talked about. This book also provided answers to various questions on tackling issues with parenting or students being effective with communication. It also inspires parents to be there for their children. It teaches parents to avoid tight schedules, which would not permit them to attend parent-teacher meetings and other programs concerning their children.

I tried so hard to find a negative aspect to this book; I found none. I enjoyed everything about this book. The author was particular about the welfare of students. This book is definitely worth reading, and I had a fantastic time reading it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is just a fantastic book. It was written with the best interest of students at heart. It is needed to improve schools, communities, and the development of a child through a healthy learning environment.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about students. Anyone curious to understand why students behave the way they do would find this book very helpful. Also, I recommend this book to every teacher, parent, student, and generally, to schools. It is a beneficial book laced with answers to questions you might have searched for. It is recommended to schools for better development. It is recommended to parents for better parenting. It is recommended to teachers for better input to their work and services that help mold the students.

Welfare of students is an important issue and the book shares the problems and solutions related to Urban schools.
I like the opening para and the definition of school.
