What's the Worst That Can Happen? by Jessica Khan is a nonfiction book that gives an account of the author's life and what she went through right from childhood. If you think that you have gone through worse situations in life, relax until you read this book. The author's experiences will help you understand how she came about the title of this book. She intends to share her story to inspire, motivate and encourage her audience facing such an experience.

Jessica is the eighth and last child of her family. She grew up in a toxic and abusive home, where her dad beats up her mom and picks on her. Jessica grew up with Steve, her brother, and Ray, her eldest sister's son. As she entered high school, she decided to follow Steve and his friends to indulge in alcohol and drugs. She later fell into the hands of a bad guy that impregnated her. At 16 years old, Jessica became a single parent, and sadly, she didn't stop at one child but had two more kids. Her mum was very helpful in taking care of her children while she was at school and later started working. Unfortunately, tragedy struck. The situation left her traumatized, depressed, and suicidal. Alcohol and drugs became her companion, and she was strongly addicted to them. What tragedy changed her life for the worse? Did she ever recover? Find out when you read this publication.

Firstly, the author's story is intriguing, and it got me curious to know how the author navigated through the hurdles. What I liked most was how authentic, insightful, educative, and relatable her story is. She told her story in all honesty and transparency such that readers would easily relate. There are twists and turns in this book. I must commend the author for her excellent narration. I must appreciate the author for her courage in sharing her painful life experiences and her recovery process to help readers. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me because I felt her pain, and at some point, I broke down in tears due to the tragedy she experienced and how unfair life could be to one person. I also enjoyed that this book is written in the first-person point of view, making the story engaging and allowing readers to imagine walking in the author's shoes.

There are many positive aspects to this book. I learned that sometimes, we don't know how strong we are until being strong becomes the only option. Jessica is a strong woman that faced many challenges at a young age. Furthermore, readers would also understand that drugs and alcohol intake aren't a solution to life problems.

I'm sure that the author's story will resonate with most readers because life is full of bittersweet moments. The author advises her audience to give God a chance when life becomes difficult and complicated. Parents will also learn to spend quality time with their families, bearing in mind that tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

There's nothing I dislike about this book except that I found many errors in it. For that reason, I'll deduct a star and award it 3 out of 4 stars. I'd highly recommend this book to teens since they are easily influenced and exposed to alcohol and drugs due to peer pressure. Adults facing life challenges will also gain courage and help via the author's story. I believe everybody can benefit from this book regardless of their religious beliefs.

I'm literally like "what's really the worst that could happen?" All that ordeal for a growing child? Not to take away the fact that she brought it upon herself but it's really an unexciting experience
