Man Mission is an autobiography by Eytan Uliel. It is a great piece that seeks to match the 21st-century work style with a countryside vacation of four friends. This book starts with the birth of the plans for the Man Mission between the author and Sam Norseman. This was a seed planted while both men were still in law school. It became a yearly event that involved four friends, sometimes with one staying back to sort some issues. For fifteen years, they maintained this culture, observing the rules in the Man Mission Charter. These fifteen years came with challenges and adventures for all four friends.

Reality mixes with the make-believe playfulness of the Man Mission when the foundation of the marriage of the author fails. Will he rise above this major setback, or will he make a home of the hell this reality has sunk him into?

This book has a lot of positive aspects. Man Mission is a didactic novel that seeks to teach about the everyday challenges in our personal life, family, group, and workplace. It also educates us on how to handle these challenges as they come. I found the language simple and easy to understand. I also admired the descriptive manner the author had chosen in telling the story. What I find most appealing is how the author was illustrative of the various locations used for the Man Mission at different times. Indeed, he had not just narrated a story but had described and created long-lasting images of various parts of the world in my mind. The author skillfully took me on a journey around the world. I learned so many new things; for instance, I learned of a new food called dog food. I also enjoyed how the author presented what the society expects of a man and what a man should be. This is seen towards the end when the four friends had all exposed what they considered to be secrets to themselves, showing that men too can be vulnerable and can also seek help without always bottling up emotions. I consider this book emotionally rich. It is a powerful presentation of reality. I could not find any error in this book; it was exceptionally well edited.

Nevertheless, I found some negative aspects of this book. First, I consider it unnecessarily wordy and long. The author kept going on and on without ending. However, since it's an autobiography, the author might have wanted to make it this long; the author had said at the epilogue that it is his story, and he had chosen the style to tell it. Another negative aspect of the book is the continuous use of profanities. I could not read up to three pages without spotting profane words in the characters' speeches. If you are not open to reading a book with so many vulgar words, then this may not be the perfect fit for you.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is because, aside from the negative aspects highlighted above, the book is enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to lovers of autobiographies. This book is exceptional, and I am looking forward to seeing more books from this author.

I enjoy autobiographies that pass significant messages while entertaining, and it seems this one ticks both boxes. Nice review.

A vacation with friends sounds intriguing. I would love to read this book to know if the narrator was able to rise above the family problems he encountered.

The society expects so much from the male folks. We always have our expectations of what they should and should no be. I will happily read this book to see how the author merged this with his story.

The fact that you consider this book wordy and long would make me skip it. Thank you for being honest.
