Review of Who Told You That You Were Naked?
Who Told You That You Were Naked? written by William E. Combs is a book meant to dig into the very root of man's fallen nature, alongside God's redemption plan and purpose for man through salvation obtained by faith. All from the Christian faith and belief system.
Combs began his digging from Eden, which according to the Christian bible, is where all things related to human existence began. He picked and examined bible characters and events at Eden, one at a time. Outlining the significance of each as a contributing factor to the advent of sin and subsequently, man's fallen nature. He also explained how God's plan for redemption unfolds through all these events.
Combs wrote about everything involved in the Christian faith, salvation and different issues around it. He went further to show the God intended way to tackle all such issues. He supported his claims and findings with other biblical references. He also shared his own personal experiences and those of others through their journey, which align with his findings.
I love how Combs gave life to the bible characters in Eden, with realistic human attributes and activities. This makes the book more relatable. It also adds an outstanding significance to the events they were involved in. Examples of this are found in chapters one and two of the book. One of which is on page 13 of the book "Fall found the couple bustling from one region of the garden to another, harvesting all manner of grains, root vegetables, fruits, and nuts." This very well portrays one of the most fundamental of human characters.
I also love how he presented some parts of the book in a question - and - answer format, as solutions to some puzzling questions about the Christian faith and beliefs. One of these is the "How can one die for all?" question and answer section in chapter six of the book. This in particular, is one of the greatest mysteries around the Christian faith, and walking other Christian believers through the answer to this in the book, was a thoughtful one.
The book is such a good one that I have no negative comment on it.Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend the book is for people that believe in the Christian faith but have struggles with understanding the true essence of salvation. In it are the answers to how it was planned, executed and presented to man by God, through Jesus Christ. It also includes answers as to everything required to get and sustain it, as presented by the author.
