Review of The Pro-Achievement Principle
The Pro-Achievement Principle is the first book of the Pro-Achievement Series. It is written by the author Deborah Bright and is a quick study guidebook that teaches readers to foster characteristics that will positively contribute to their lives, teams, and companies. It is a user's handbook on becoming a Pro-Achiever who inspires others to do the same to create a winning team. The book covers the meaning of being a Pro-Achiever and the characteristics of persons who practice this mentality.
At the forefront of the principles discussed, is the importance that everyone in the workforce should work together in innovative ways. It also deals with how Pro-Achievers can be identified and team members can be introduced to these principles. Many subjects are addressed, including how to act within the work culture to create a well-coordinated team. In The Pro-Achievement Principle the reader is taught how to get others to empower themselves and commit themselves to organizational goals.
I found the book to be very well written, it explains the concepts coherently and gives the reader a very good idea of how these concepts can be implemented and shared. One of the elements that I particularly enjoyed was the "Takeaway Points for Review" at the end of the lessons, which summarized the main points discussed within the chapter. The information was well-substantiated by research and provided an original perspective to being responsible as a worker. How work culture within teams and companies should function was also well illustrated.
I have very little criticism for this book and found it to be well written and structured. However, the language used was occasionally very sophisticated, which could impact the accessibility of the information to the less educated reader. There were also a few paragraphs where the sentence structure was slightly confusing. I also noticed that not enough use was made of commas, which resulted in lengthy sentences. Nevertheless, there were not many of these cases, and overall it was filled with extremely valuable information.
I would rate the book three out of four stars. The information was extremely useful and inspirational. As a young individual entering the workplace, I found the information to be very valuable because it helps the reader to identify the kind of behavior and mentality that is required. A few grammar and spelling mistakes as well as the incoherency of some paragraphs were the reason for the deduction of one star. Overall, I think the concept and information are of good quality and can be applied in many aspects of life. I would recommend this book to anyone aiming to improve their work performance.
