Baker Falls is the usual small, quiet town. But that ends when a young woman is brutally killed and mutilated in the park. When another gruesome murder is committed the next night, Sheriff Thompson and his investigators begin to believe that a serial killer is at work in Baker Falls. Is the killer someone passing through town, or is the answer more sinister? As more people are killed, can the police find and stop the murderer? Read Yellow Gloves by Miles Cornelius to find out.

My favorite thing about this book was how quickly I was drawn into the story by the plot and the characters. The plot was very intriguing, from the first murder to the ending. At just over 100 pages, the pace of the story is fast and jumps right into the action, which also helped me to get into the story. There were also some good descriptions, particularly of the town and surrounding mountains.

I thought all of the characters were interesting and had diverse personalities. The story alternated between the different characters’ perspectives, so I was able to get to know them. With each new character, I wondered how they connected to the plot, which drew me further into the book. The only negative was that the author sometimes went into too much detail about things that had little to no connection to the plot, like the size of the characters’ homes and the sheriff’s past dating history. I would have preferred for the author to have focused less on those unnecessary things and focused more on what the police were doing as they investigated the murders.

I thought the story had a good ending. While all of my questions weren’t answered, it did resolve the main plot, so I wasn’t dissatisfied. Instead, the lingering questions I had just left me wanting the book to keep going.

However, the thing I disliked the most about this book is that it was not thoroughly or professionally edited. There were many sentences that were either missing words or used the wrong word, which affected the story’s flow. There were also some punctuation errors and some awkward phrasing.

While there were some elements of the book that could use some work, I did enjoy it. Due to the editing mistakes and the other issues I mentioned, I have decided to give it 2 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to readers who are interested in horror and mystery stories. The murders were not graphically described, but the ways the victims were killed were gruesome and disturbing, so I don’t recommend it to younger or more sensitive readers.

The characters within this book are quite interesting according to your review. The book involves series of murder committed by an unknown figure. I would love to read the book so as to know if Sheriff Thompson and his team caught the murderer. Thanks for your review.

A crime story. Great! I love suspense, especially when related to a crime. Helps me test my ability to think and solve puzzles.
