Based on the review, I am inclined to think this is not an interesting read. All the more so for a work of historical fiction to be merely 130 odd pages. I haven't read many of those, but I did read Gone with the wind which is also of the same genre but in excess of 1000 pages. As the reviewer said, it appears to be short on "material".
The coverpage though is very nice and idyllic, especially for that particular title.

Non-fiction is one of the best because this genre teaches a lot of life lessons. Colors tackles a lot of themes like mystery, death, etc. I will add it to my shelf. Thanks for a wonderful review.

There's a heavy emotion in this story. It subsides when you reach the climax. It's inspiring how immigrants survive in all their struggles.

I enjoy reading accounts of families. Murray's family is a good bait. I would rush to get this one!

The book portrays the history of the American dream that many men from England had to become a gentleman. Thus, the narrator aboards the ship at 13years without the parent's consent. In addition, he joins the gang groups led by Eammon but even though he settles in marriage life with Ann Mc cue he cannot resist the street life. He struggles to feed his children though James who lived a few months dies. Sam his hardworking son makes money legally unlike Thomas who becomes corrupt.
It is a turning point for him when Eammon is found floating after having a fight.

The book sounds like an interesting read. The struggles an Irish immigrant family face in US in 19th century and how the family members solve the mystery of William Murray's disappearance is intriguing. Thanks for the review!!

Although this might not be a book I would normally read it does sound intriguing. The lives and hardships of immigrants is something we don't always know about.
