This sounds like an interesting novel for young adults and those who really enjoy coming-of-age novels that involve mystical powers. Congratulations on BTD!

I like that the author very authentically described the emotions of young Piper during the breakup with her boyfriend. I also like the fact that Mitchel Street conceived the main character by emphasizing essential human qualities such as sacrifice, caring for a younger brother, fidelity and the like.

This seems like an interesting fantasy, coming of age novel. I wonder what changes came with the eighteenth birthday. Though not my usual genre, I would still recommend it. Congratulations on the BOTD.

Piper sounds to be like a gal who goes through alot during the novel and she lives a hard life. A heart break can be such a painful and hard experience. She survives through it despite the hardships and an almost near death experience. I don't think that this is a book I could read because it sounds so predictable and thr are many stories alike.

The introduction was awesome, but then there was teenage fiction, well written but still...not for me. According to the review, I have to give it a try with my students.

Seems like an interesting fantasy novel. Though I dislike that the author had some vague descriptions when introducing some characters. Anyways, thank you for this interesting review.

The book is just amazing! It focuses on emerging issues of family rivarly, alcoholism, child neglegence, mental health among others focusing on Piper her brother Charlie and an abusive father who is a drunkard since their mother passed on. To piper she plays the role of her late mother and finds solace in their music band with her classsmates- Lisa, Josh, Jade and Chris. However, Chris breaks up with her in the midst of her father becoming more intolerable at home. She later gives birth a baby girl in the woods where she also found solace.
The author uses Jazz as a confidant for Piper and she reacts as one even though she is a cat. The widow Esther fills the gap of the mother-figure that Piper doesn't have by listening to her and calming her down.

"Prophase: A Present Tale" by Mitchel Street. A very interesting book, most times we don't know the kind of gifts we have until something we think that we can't handle come to us. Piper never knew the truth about herself until that particular incident. About to have an accident and saving lives. Congrats on BOTD.
