Review of E M P Honeymoon
EMP Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom is written by Dorothy May Mercer. Sgt. Tom Turbulo, a police officer, and his new wife, Kelly McBride, are on their honeymoon in tropical Honduras. In their seaside bungalow, they couldn't have asked for a finer holiday. But not all is as it seems in the tranquil little island village, as Kelly McBride unwittingly stumbles into a terrifying conspiracy by a group of North Korean terrorists to take out most of North America's power grid. Kelly McBride does not lose any time in contacting her brother, Senator Mike McBride, in Washington, D.C., for assistance. Mike dispatches two investigators to investigate, and Tom Turbulo and Kelly McBride team up with two private investigators and a CIA operative to uncover the conspiracy and stop the terrorists.
Dorothy May Mercer's EMP Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom is a gripping mystery novel with heart-stopping action, dastardly terrorist plots, and a dash of romance thrown in for good measure. The author did a fantastic job of portraying the events from the perspectives of the Honduran honeymooners, US leaders attempting to prevent the attack, and even North Korean leaders and terrorists. This was an excellent book that I found difficult to put down.
The primary characters are relatable and well-presented as normal, ordinary folks who accidently come across something amazing and find themselves in the position of rescuing the world. There was also some additional humor, which brought a dimension of lightheartedness to the plot that I enjoyed. There was nothing about the book that I didn't like. However, I found a couple situations to be improbable and unbelievable. Kelly McBride, for example, stumbles onto the terrorists' hidden lab in the first chapter and is momentarily apprehended.
She is able to flee and contact her husband. However, when she returns to their hotel, neither the capture nor the escape are discussed again, and Tom Turbulo appears unconcerned. I find it difficult to believe that a honeymooning couple would be unconcerned about such an event. There were no errors in this book, indicating that it had been meticulously edited. The book's title corresponds to the substance of the book. The layout, tone, and character development are all excellent. Readers who appreciate a good mystery adventure novel will enjoy this book.
EMP Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom receives a flawless four out of four star rating from me. Despite the few minor odd situations in the plot that I previously highlighted, I enjoyed the story and did not believe they detracted from it. Because there are a few brief references to mature circumstances, this book is best suited for young adults and up. The book will appeal to those who enjoy fast-paced action novels with a hint of romance. Well done, Dorothy May Mercer, your writing style is fantastic, and I enjoy reading your work.
