Great review. I agree with your assessment of Aunt Flory. She is a rare species: most women perform badly when it comes to taking charge of children who are not their own.

Indeed, family is not always defined by blood relationship or what not. Congratulations on the book of the day.

The official review didn't mention the aunt's age. I'm kind of curious about that because this is a ya book. And I don't think that a teenager can become a legal guardian. Will read the sample later to find out

Showing love dosen't only entail to our direct siblings or parents; it can be shown to our siblings children too, in fact to strangers as well. Aunt Flory did well by training her deceased sister's daughters; she must have had a good sense of humour. I feel like adding this book to my shelf because its content is mind-blowing. Were the girls able to trace their father; it is so suspense-filled.

Nice review, I was hooked through out it and now I just can't wait to read the book. I love books about sisters trying to find their way in life, and the fact their aunt took them in is just admirable. I'll like to know how it ends that's for sure.

Ekezie 1998, thanks for your review. I like when an author can use a vast vocabulary properly. Then I feel I can possibly learn something from reading their book. I also appreciate your highlighting the book's overall respect for nature and our surroundings. I agree that not enough focus goes that way.
Once again, thank you.

A coming of age tale with young characters and their well presented emotions should be an interesting read for the concerned readers. As mentioned, the story has been stretched at a point ( not too much); this might be a little bit of concern. Thank you for the review!
The disappearance of the word "I am" is indeed the highest happiness! :)

I love the way the sisters bond.
I looks like they are always fighting but the book portrays the relevance of our present society th way families bond without even realizing.
The book also shows the importance of a woman in the society as the way Aunt Flory takes on the role of a mother and raises the kids well.

When the family unit is good . Husband, wife , children. Society benefits. The aunt took over the role of looking after the children .
I liked the way she poured everything into this vitaly important task of raising the children .
You feel that the disappearance of their father and death of their mother drew the sisters closer together. Each sister is a unique individual with their own personalities.
The author goes into details about their individual personalities. Their differences quite rightly doesn't effect their close bond to each other. The girls are inseparable.
The book focuses on the girls journey of becoming better versions of themselves. Great. I would like to know the obstacles they faced and how they overcame them. We are drawn along with the sisters on this journey of becoming better persons.
They appreciate their surroundings. There are many positive benefits in spending time in and appreciating nature.
I think if the sisters successfully become better versions of themselves, they themselves would give a great deal of gratitude to their aunt.

Bugs , weeds and water by Evangeline Greene is very interesting book. This book is about family bonding. I admire the Aunt Flory character in this book . She is taking care of her deceased sister's daughters. I also like how wonderfully author mention the voidness in the heart's of children. They need their parents love also. In this book Zoey wants to find about her Father. Am so curious how the story ends

Not just the close bonds, but how they'll make it through...

I believe your review is extremely well written. I also enjoyed the novel. I thought the symbolism the author uses consistently throughout the novel gave it a special touch. I loved the individuality of all the characters, especially their "quirks." The novel itself is as unique as the characters!

This is an interesting contemporary young adult fiction novel highlighting a unique coming of age story, love, family, challenges, and mystery. The book is temporarily discounted on Amazon Kindle and has an inciteful OnlineBookClub review. Congrats on the BOTD selection.
