I like this review. I like that Springer, himself a Vietnamese war veteran, has written a story about black soldiers, during a war zone, especially at a time when racism is rampant, and Martin Luther King is leading the struggle against this vice. The book takes a different outlook on the war, other than the dead. It is interesting to know what others think about this, and the book brings it out. I recommend it to those who love stories about war, racism and historians. Hope to read it. I am humbled and touched by this review. How does one adopt and survive in such dire circumstances is of great interest?

Very rarely do I read historical fiction, and that too by chance. Nonetheless, this looks like an interesting read. I think it's a great opportunity to learn more about the war.

I do not like memoirs, as they often seem boring to me. Billy Springer seems like a person with a hard life, being in the military, fighting a war is not easy and is not without consequences, being a black soldier is even harder.
I like the fact that this is a short memoir, 56 pages seems like something I could read in a day or two, depending on how busy I am, so that might motivate me to give this book a chance, but I am still hesitant about the fact that is not fiction but a memoir.

I'm not really a fan of war and historical non-fiction books, but this review makes me want to read 'My enemy in Vietnam'. I'll like to know a different perspective of Vietnam and the war in particular

This seems an interesting book to read. The experience of soldiers in Vietnam should provide a first hand account of what took place there. Thanks for the review.

A historical fiction book about the Vietnam War but this round featuring a black soldier. This is actually one of a kind book for I haven't seen many of the sort. The fact that it doesn't dwell on just the evils of war also makes me want to read the book even more. Thank you for this clear review.

I didn’t realize how horribly black soldiers were treated in Vietnam. You’re right about it not being something typically discussed.

This book is an account of the time the author spent in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. writer’s story provides a different perspective on the Vietnam War and the discrimination that prevailed. The book is well written that captivates the reader till the end.

The strength of this book seems to be the fact that it provides a different perspective on the Vietnam war and focuses on elements of social history. I'd be interested in the pages dedicated to the issue of racial discrimination too. Thanks for your review!

A different perspective of the Vietnam war, this book portrays the author's unique experience as a solider in the war. Everyone can learn from his life and this book has many lessons about race we can all understand. Congrats on the BOTD!

This really takes a look at the military from a whole different perspective. As if the war was bad enough, there was the racial conflict also. Congratulations on BOTD!
