A memoir(sort of) on the Vietnam War. I have read about the behind-the-scenes of the conflict, so this seems different.
Thanks for the review.

This read gives personal, no-frills snapshots of the author's experience in Vietnam. It is not heavy on statistics and strategy, but it is strong on recapping personal interactions. It is different, and I found it quite informative.

Thank you for the detailed review. I am always interested to read stories like these. Books on war deepen my empathy for the plight of the oppressed while amplifying my disbelief why oppression occurs.

The book has the feel of a graphic novel, which helps to lighten the presentation, and the stories are short but powerful. This would be a perfect read for someone who isn't necessarily into wars but enjoys stories about human interaction. I hope you check it out.

After reading,
I will rate this book My “Enemy” in Vietnam with these perfect 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the following reasons and observations.

The best thing about this book is that, it will let you realize that Vietnam is not all about war in the 60's . It was north versus south wherein its ally was the United States but inspite the conflict there are some american men who did not allow themselves to serve in the said war. In this historic personal book you will go along with some unsung stories of Vietnam in the midst of that battlefield. it is like aside form reading it, you will have the chance to go outside the story of the book and will try to do a research about the war because you will absolutely become curious on distinguishing the difference of factual events from a fictional scenarios on that part of history.

In this book, the author will bring you to a story that contains a life of a point man, the explaination of a coup d'etat, also on how he handles to connect in both parties, and on how he relate himself to the vietnam locals by speaking fluently of their language.

IF you are not still oriented with this so-called BLACK GI, then reading this book will also show you that there is no such difference between ninjas and gis because they are both same except with the color black . It is just like green gi, white gi, etc.

In that huge battlefield, Billy Springer will see himselves caught between the responsibility of being a reserved army for America and a protecting soldier for South Vietnam. Calling him as ben-me (meaning soul brother), Springer in this 56-pages book, he both maintains being dedicated with United States of America and loving his role for the Southern Vietnemese or what they officially called as Viet Cong.

The cover of the book has the power to attracts age group of youngsters of almost teens and teens simply beacuse of its strong graphical appeal using a paperback materials that is a thick paper or paperboard cover that is soft and has a perfect bound. He attack his story with a personal experience along with a hard preferences of other people's realizations as a service men who had the same treatment.

I highly recommend this book to everyone in all ages because all of us has their own history and by this book you will be able to think of turning your head from the past and start to validate the value of our old yesterdays.

I usually avoid war related books but I think I might just read this one. It sounds brief enough to captivate me. Thank you for the review.

Although the backdrop is a war, I think you will find this book more about human relationships than war, which makes the experience unique.

I would not usually choose to read books about war, but your enlightening review has helped me to understand the many complex themes in this book. To know that Billy Springer made such an effort to connect with Vietnamese civilians while suffering racism from his own comrades, is very humbling.

Springer has a way of making the complex setting of this war simpler because he focuses on human interactions. It is indeed a humbling and touching read. Thank you for your comment and for reading my take on this book.
