The story sounds fascinating and I’d love to find out more about Vander’s abilities and what lies in store for him. I love stories that show real struggles like the tragic themes in this one, it makes the characters seem real too.

The book covers several themes such as death, murders, abuse, racism, gender discrimination, among other social themes. Through the eyes and experience of Vander, the reader can appreciate both sides of humanity, the good and the ugly. This is a dark thriller that will provoke your thoughts. Thank you for your great review.

I love reading stories like this. They are usually inspiring and educational. The book also addresses sensitive topics. I would love to read about Vander. Thanks for a beautiful review and congratulations to the author on winning BOTD!

Unfortunately, this book and its topics don’t sound like ones I would enjoy. I prefer more uplifting material over gritty realism, but the story sounds like one many without my hesitations would spectacularly enjoy.

Many thanks for the detailed review. It makes the book appear intriguing and worth a read.

Though domestic violence is a sensitive topic for me, it would be interesting to view it from a 9-year-old's perspective.

Indeed, I was about to comment that the dark themes of death and abuse stand in stark contrast to the kind ofinnocence we associate with a nine-year-old child. But I see it contains more than that: racism, gender discrimination and so on…just the ‘run-of-the-mill’ issues in life, then?

I think when I read this review I gain interest in reading the book. The story shown not is not only good for learning but also for morals of the society. The language and themes are also quite good.

That Reviewer, great job. Thank you for the candid synopsis of what may/may not be offensive to various readers. While I will not be reading this one, as I feel there's enough gruesomeness for me to ponder in real life without also serving it up in my fiction, I appreciate that I would not easily be able to make that decision without your review. It will be an educational read especially for those who may not realize how ineffective and quite useless most arms of the justice system actually are in many if not most of our African countries. One can only hope that more of a spotlight on how these are failing their respective populace might somehow shame the authorities to seriously consider a revamp of these systems.

Wow, this sounds like a heart-wrenching book that has supernatural weaved into it. I sure hope the main character is able to get away from his destructive family life. Thanks for the detailed review.

I am really not comfortable with exposing children to domestic violence, death and other negative sides of life, even if they are fictional characters. It is not inspirational when someone had to overcome such childhood trauma, in my opinion, and because of it I prefer to skip this book.

I'm not sure about the death and violence part, but I like books that have thought-provoking ideas and makes one question essential aspects of life.

This thought-provoking, psychological thriller sounds like it has some paranormal aspects included to bring home hard-to-swallow truths about life. Great review!
