Review of The Saylor Document
Bob Saylor, an award-winning and accomplished environmental researcher, is hired to investigate cancer cases in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. Bob’s research is to determine if there is a relationship between the activities of the big chemical companies and the increase in cancer cases along the Gulf Coast. Thus, Bob requests cancer data from the Office of the Surgeon General. However, the lives of Bob and his wife (Katie) are endangered when the highly restricted cancer database for the whole of the United States is mistakenly sent to Bob.
Bob and Katie are now aware of a deadly secret closely guarded by powerful government officials and executives of big chemical companies. Bob’s research unravels a web of deep-seated conspiracy, corruption, and greed among men in the echelons of power – a conspiracy that endangers the lives of millions of Americans. The secret is so dark that powerful men will do anything to protect it, including poisoning the First Lady of the United States of America.
The Saylor Document by Richard Pickard is a gripping, fast-paced political crime thriller with a tinge of romance. This book contains themes of political corruption, conspiracy, crime, treason, inhumanity, betrayal, greed, love, and justice. The book is divided into forty chapters. The author tells his story using the third-person narrative technique. The author takes the reader from what seemed to be a mundane start through a captivating rollercoaster of political intrigue, romance, crime, and greed - building up to a climactic end.
I like how the author wove this story in an intricate and believable manner. The author’s narrative expertise had me wholly invested in the storyline; I could vividly picture the story unfolding like a movie. I feared for the lives of Bob, Katie, and Beth (the First Lady). I felt the determination of Agent Jarnosky and his team. I was concerned that the secret between Agent Burns and Agent Ellis would be discovered. I love the chemistry between Bob and Katie regardless of their age difference. At first, I thought ‘The Saylor Document’ referred to Bob’s research, but it was interesting to discover that it meant more. There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book.
I believe this book is professionally edited as I only found a few grammatical and typographical errors in it. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy political crime thrillers with a touch of romance. The Saylor Document by Richard Pickard is an engaging, masterfully-written, suspense-filled novel that ticks all the boxes of a fantastic read. Therefore, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

Yes, the book does not contain explicit sex scenes; just mild erotic content without details. I actually appreciate a little romance to spice up crime thrillers. But to each his own
