I have read Totem first. The novels are all standalone but reading the prequels help understand somethings a bit better. I have just read Strong Heart and will be starting the second book Adrift soon.

I have now started the first book, Strong Heart, and I'm finding it enhances my understanding of Sarah to see how it all began. But I don't feel anything major was missing or unknown to me in Totem, which I did read first.

I've read the prequel and not the sequel but I can tell you it worth the read. It build up a whole entire world which I believe would be expounded on in the sequels and it would give a better understanding of what is going on in Totem. So yes I would definitely recommend reading the prequel

I didn't read the prequels of the book. And I felt it because most times I got lost reading this third part of the book. Characters kept making references to scenes that happened in the previous books and I just had to fill up the gaps myself. If you can, please read the prequels.

I would advise anyone who wants to read this third book to start with the prequels. Nevertheless, if you aren't told that this book has prequels, you would still enjoy it as if it were a novel of its own.

I haven't read the prequels yet but even without doing so, the book does not lack any missing parts which I would find in the prequals because I think it is a masterpiece on it's own

This book, Totem (Strong Heart #3) by Charlie Sheldon, is the third book in the Strong heart series. Have you read the prequels of this book? Do you think this book is also okay as a standalone or things aren't satisfactory without reading all the 3 books?

I think it is difficult to pull off a stand-alone story in a book series; this book, Totem, is no different. While I understood the plot for what it was, it was clear I was missing some stuff that the previous books would have cleared up. I think reading them would help anyone appreciate the entire series much better.

Part three was a satisfactory read for me. I consider it a perfect standalone book. However, it won't hurt to read other books in the series for a more comprehensive experience of the author's ingenuity.

No, but I was still able to understand the plot of this book. However, I would have enjoyed reading Totem if I knew the backstories of the characters, which I would have received if I had read the prequels.

I haven't read any of them yet. I felt like I was missing something by not reading the prior novels at times in Totem, especially towards the beginning. For example, the characters frequently alluded to what had happened to Sarah the previous summer, but it wasn't until I got farther into the novel that I was able to put together what had occurred. I like this book on its own, but I believe that reading the prequels would give more perspective for this plot.

I have not read the prequels. I think this book was just okay as a stand-alone, but I think to be able to fully appreciate it, it needs to be read after the others.

Yes, the book can be read as a standalone. But, it would be preferable to read it with the former ones because no matter what there must be a connection between the series.
