I like the cover for its colour scheme, but composition-wise it could have been a little stronger. Since it is not immediately apparent what is happening, I wasn't inclined to read it. It makes sense after reading the book, since the racism is evident.

The cover is quite well done. It does, indeed, become explanatory once one reads the content (as with most novels). It is intriguing and almost mocks the potential reader to pick up the novel to find the story behind the imagery.

I think I am in a minority, reading the other comments, but I thought it was a very good cover at first. Reading the book, however, I changed my mind a bit: it seems to be set in the US more than Vietnam. So, yes, it might be misleading.

I think the cover of the book should be better than this. It could be more intrigued the readers if there is something that stands out / is eye-catching on the cover.

I believe the book not only discusses war, but racism is also a major issue. Though it may not be obvious at first look, particularly if you haven't read the book, I believe the art cover focuses on racism. It would be fantastic to have a more understandable cover. During his time in Vietnam, a black GI was subjected to and witnessed bigotry. As a result, the cover photo makes great sense, even though it appears to be unconnected to the title at first.

We can see the theme of racism in the cover, which was a prevalent theme in this book. In this sense, the cover was related to the plot. Even the supposed "chaos," was evident in both the cover and the wartime conditions portrayed in the book.

The cover at first told me that the book would be a fictitious one, but it not. The blue color of the cover is not strong enough to portray the war situation of the book's content. Though, there's a functionality in the cover with the book's message, but it would be obvious only after one has read it

The art cover is detailed. Since the book deals with the theme of racism, the cover does justice to the story. I personally thought it was apt.

I agree. It’s not one that I would have found appealing typically if I were to just look at the cover. It’s interesting that this was the image they chose to go with.

I think the book cover made perfect sense, seeing as the book itself talked about racism.and abuses the author experienced.

To be honest, I would have probably ignored this book based just on its cover. I know you should never judge a book by its cover, but this one did not entice me to read the contents.

The cover was quite graphic to me, and had it not been book of the month, I would have have read this book based on that. I'm still not too fond of the cover, but I do understand why it's as depictive as it is.

Since the book cover stages a woman being beaten by a cop and other people pointing to it, I deduced that maybe the book covers a story about a lady who has been treated unjustly and her struggle for respect. But then after reading the book I realized it was not only about a woman, It was about the entire black community in general. The cover aims to depict the injustice that has befallen the people of her community.

Just like so many other books, the art cover wasn't quite clear to me at start. But the tales of the experiences of the soldiers threw more light on the significance of the art cover
