The book cover is indeed very representative of what the book entails. Even though it shows a woman being beaten by cops, but the portrayal of the injustice in the book's lines does justify the cover.

Immediately I looked at the images on the cover, race was the first evident interpretation. Then I looked at the top image and realized that a white person was attacking a black one, and I concluded even before opening the book that racial differences and hostilities must be at play. When I read this book, it effectively fit into my interpretation of the cover which makes the art of the cover outstanding for me.

Exactly, at first, I thought it was about a person who face a chaotic situation in Vietnam and many wrong assumptions but it turned out different. while the cover was good it was not much related to the book. Honestly, at first, I thought this was some kind of piece of a comedy.

Everyone who has read the book completely will know that the cover is related to racism. Before I read the book I didn't understand it's meaning and was a little perplexed but almost to the end I was able to grasp the meaning. The cover was relevant and artistic.

I love how the cover is directly related to the book. It perfectly demonstrates the racism that you will see in the novel. It was very intuitive in my opinion.

I think the cover actually makes sense because its chaotic art reflects the chaotic nature that all the problems faced by people objected to racism in total.

I think the cover is apt and straight to the point. As a story centered on racism, the cover doesn't just capture the constant injustices faced by black people but also the constant feeling of fear the black community faces to speak up, protect their kind and fight for their rights

I liked the cover of the book, as it was well-designed and appealed to me. According to me, the cover is appropriate for the book. Racism is a form of oppression, and when you keenly look at the cover of the book, you'll see it brings out that picture of oppression.

The cover art would be a bit misleading to anyone who hasn’t read the book. It begins to make sense as you progress. It obviously depicts the theme of racism in this book but that would not be obvious at a first glance. I do not think it is the perfect, descriptive cover.

Although I didn't care for the cover, I thought it was suitable given that the book is about racial discrimination. I would have still read it.

For me, the cover photo seems appropriate and related to the themes of the book, portraying a battle and racism.

I conceived a cover as something to be symbolic rather than the need to relate it with the context. Although it’s a for us to decode its significance, it adds adventure in reading the entire creation. On my end, I like that I have no idea what the book about at first, until I read it.

Reading the title and seeing the cover at first did not make sense to me because the cover shows a woman being beaten by a man and the book and description told another story but I am glad that I was not much affected by the cover and picked the book to read as it proved to be an excellent book.

Before reading the book, the cover wouldn't make much sense on how it's a reflection of racism.

Gabriela C 1 wrote: 04 Mar 2022, 15:41 I like the cover, I think it screams the same the book does: "racism is here, it affects all of us" but based on the cover I:
1. Wouldn't have read it
2. Wouldn't guess what the book is about.

I see the racism in the cover, but is about a woman being beaten by a police officer, not a soldier in Vietnam, even if the message is the same, for me, the cover should be related to the title or contents of the book, as a whole (war, Vietnam, black soldiers)
Indeed. I have to agree with you, the cover only describes violence and chaos, it isn't vividly speaking of racism.
