Imagine a workplace where everyone's voice matters irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation, and age. Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion: Ultimate Management Guide to Challenging Bias, Creating Organizational Change and Building an Effective Diversity & Inclusion Strategy by Eleanor Bowes makes me understand that this is possible. It discussed leadership as different from the stereotyped one that favors one group and leaves the other. It is a system of leadership where everyone is part of a team irrespective of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and color. This is done by leading in diversity and inclusion. Leading in diversity brings in different people from different parts of the world, perspectives, and orientations into the workforce. Inclusion is making these people feel accepted and making them valuable workers. Eleanor explains how this works. She explained the difference between diversity and inclusion, its advantages, and everything necessary for leading diversity and inclusion to be effective. Even though diversity and inclusion are very different terms, they must coexist to be effective.

Some books are written straightforwardly and in long chapters that make them difficult to understand. But the first thing I found positive about this book was how each chapter was divided into subsections. And these sections were given subheadings. It made the book easy to read and helped me grab the idea more quickly, like in the chapter that discussed the differences between diversity and inclusion. Before that chapter, I assumed that diversity and inclusion serve the same purposes, but it helped me understand better.

Also, Eleanor used examples to explain her point in some instances. When she talked about addressing people by their correct pronouns, she gave examples of how this should be done. Though these examples are not based on studies or true experiences, as some authors do, they aided my understanding of the concept.

Even though this book talked about diversity and inclusion, it seemed to be focused on North Americans, as Eleanor mentioned many times when she talked about the industries adopting diversity and inclusion into their workplaces. This proves that the author doesn't embrace this idea or is writing this for only the North Americans. I put this on the negative side.

This book was a wonderful and informative read. It enlightened me on a more effective system of leadership that proves to be beneficial for both the employee and employer. I loved the conversational style of writing. On the other hand, I wouldn't say I liked the arrangements of the contents. Even though the paragraphs were well spaced, the sentences were broken into different parts. It wasn't very clear. Honestly, it was frustrating at some points. It made the book boring. The entire interface is very discouraging. The book was professionally edited, as I found some errors.

Considering the issues above, Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion: Ultimate Management Guide to Challenging Bias, Creating Organizational Change and Building an Effective Diversity & Inclusion Strategy gets a 3 out of 4 stars. It teaches a more effective way to lead to yield better results and provide a better workforce experience. It provides the solution to the most oblivious problem that the workforce faces. I recommend this book to employees and employers in different corporations and industries. It is a complete guide on how to lead in diversity and inclusion.

According to your review, I think the book is an example to be applied in a larger society, she only used north America as a case study but if same changes is applied in cities and countries then we will have a peaceful, happy and productive society

The negative aspect of the book, mentioned by the reviewer, is too important to overlook. A person who promotes diversity and inclusion for their own reasons, should be able to be more inclusive themselves. Thanks for the interesting review.
