Till today, racism is rampant. Even in history, like in this book, the issue is very evident. It's good to know that the two women characters would have their fates intertwined beautifully. I got curious on how this goes. Thanks for the review.

Racism was very much prevalent in the 1800s. I wonder what is the relationship between Margaret and Elizabeth. Thanks for the review.

Having a partner who is racist could be a nightmare. I hope there was a good turn at the end of the story. Nice review.

What a clever idea for the author to build this story around that historical duel. Thank you for your excellent review, and congrats on BOTD.

I love when books are able to balance readability with true, real-life events. It sounds like this book has a lot going for it.

Your review sounds promising. I love historical fiction and am curious to find out why she would want to still marry a man she knows to be racist? Looking forward to leaving a review of my own. 😊

Are secrets meant to be revealed? I'm interested in whether Elizabeth's secret remained such; if not, what the consequences were. You have quite an engaging and honest review here. Congrats to the author.

The premise of this story sounds quite interesting with a mix of modern day and history. I also like that one of the main characters is an older woman. Great review!

I don't know the historical aspects of Louisiana's last duel, but I would like to read this engaging novel to learn how an incident in the past can give birth to a new story.

Racism, on of the biggest problem of mankind. Not a fan of story books, but, the fist three character I read from this review and some events that I can imaging playing out in their lives has really captured my interest for this book. Nice review.

The fact that the novel portrayed aged characters very well is very intriguing. I would really want to read this book.
