Thomas Jefferson Survives by C. J. Hayek is a fictional historical story centered on a former prominent US citizen, Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson went into self-hibernation on Thursday, July 4th, 1986. He did this because he wanted to know what would become of America's independence and the freedom movement that he had started in his time. He needed to be sure that America's future had no enslaving factors and was really independent. He woke up in the twenty-first century to find a lot of chaos in the nation. He discovered that the independent state of America was in danger. Thomas took it upon himself to change things no matter how difficult it would get.

Owing to the fact that the book combined two centuries, C. J. Hayek did his best to create a perfect description of both worlds. He started from the great architectural work of the main character, Thomas Jefferson, to the roads and methods of communication in that era. I loved that he was also able to combine several sectors of the government in telling this fictional story. The corrupt nature of top government officials was also properly highlighted. The secret societies that governed most great authorities were explained. I loved that through the book, C. J. Hayek was able to portray the mental challenge of most people living in the twenty-first century and how the world economy had channeled the minds of most citizens to think in an unsuitable way. More so, I loved that the book depicted the tremendous advancement in technology with regard to the nineteenth century. It highlighted the inventions that were bound to take place and the use of humans as callous weapons against each other.

Knowing that one of the characters in the book was not English, I didn't appreciate that the author failed to provide the interpretation of most foreign words used in the book. The meanings of those words were not easily conveyed to the reader, and the intent of the author within those few lines was also difficult to grasp.

I would give the book a four out of four stars rating. I liked that the author committed a lot of time to thoroughly describing so many events in the book. The book was professionally edited; I found some errors in it. I did not give it a lower rating because the positive points in the book clearly outweighed the negative ones.

Thomas Jefferson Survives is recommended to all history lovers. Readers who love adventure, politics, and a bit of action will find this book very interesting.

Oh, my goodness! I haven't heard of this book before, but I love historical fiction and Thomas Jefferson happens to be my favorite president. I can't wait to read once I can get my hands on a copy. Also, thank you for letting us know that the author doesn't explain the foreign words used. Knowing this going into the story will definitely make it less distracting.
