Review of Bitcoin Answered
Jon Law's Bitcoin Answered is an informative book about cryptocurrency. This book answers any questions the reader might have about Bitcoin. This book answers over 100 questions that people might have about Bitcoin. Many of my peers invested in Bitcoin, and this domain was alien to me. So, I picked this book in hopes of understanding the whole crux and craze around this particular cryptocurrency. I was intimidated before reading this book because I thought the complex technical jargon would go over my head. But the author makes the reader understand complex topics regarding Bitcoin through diagrams, flowcharts, graphs, and fun illustrations.
The author explains Bitcoin, its creator, and its history. He also talks about the different types of bitcoin wallets, Bitcoin's ledger, Bitcoin's mining pools, and various other exciting topics. The author even answers some questions we are too afraid to ask our friends, like, "Is Bitcoin a company?", "What is the point of Bitcoin?" and "How would you explain Bitcoin to a 5-year-old?". After reading this book, it felt like the author had answered questions that I did not previously have. After reading this book, I was able to understand cryptocurrency-related podcasts.
Another aspect I liked about this book is that the author also mentions external resources like YouTube links, podcasts, and other books on cryptocurrency to help solidify the reader's learning. The author has put a lot of effort and research into creating this book, as there are numerous credible references to scientific and technical papers in the book. I like that essential points and concepts are given under bullet points, making it easier for the reader to go back and refer to these topics.
I felt that the author's perspective regarding cryptocurrency was impartial. Just as he highlighted the positive side of bitcoin, he equally stressed the security concerns that come with it. I now have a clearer picture of investing in bitcoin and can advise my friends regarding the same. One of the fun aspects of this book is that the author dedicated an entire section to "Bitcoin slang." Some of the slang words are "Dolphin," "Whale," "Vladamir Club," "ELI5," etc.
Due to the reasons mentioned above, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I do not have anything negative to say about this book. This book is exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this book to readers who are curious about cryptocurrency. Computer science majors specializing in blockchain technology would find this resource very valuable. Readers will find this book fascinating as Bitcoin is an entirely different way of thinking about money and monetary transactions.
