Has the phrase "from frying pan to fire" ever been used to describe how your life is going? Sometimes what we envision life to be is not what it turns out to be. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a book about the journey of Galen from one kingdom, where he found it deadly, to another where he thought life wouldn't be difficult at all, but the reverse turns out to be the case.

Galen originally stayed in a kingdom where the emperor was using his rival among his sons to retain his power. This resulted in the occupants of the land being used as manpower for war among the princes, making it very difficult for any commoner to survive. However, what he thought to be redemption came when he learned that he had an uncle in Voulhire who needed his services. Without much consideration, he left for Voulhire. On getting there, he learned that his uncle had passed away, leaving him a fortune and a place of work. Just like every other kingdom, Voulhire had its challenges, and Galen would have to play a vital role in his newfound abode. How will he fare in this land, and what evil befalls this land?

It is hard not to read this book after seeing so much action in the beginning parts of it. However, the book started to get boring as I read on. I wish the author talked more about the Land of Princes and explained in detail how the war was fought. Despite all that, I I still enjoyed the book. I love how he got along with Rowan despite having known each other for only a brief time. The author's description of the characters and plot of this book was very clear.

There were a lot of things I liked about this book. I loved how the author gave a detailed description of the actions that took place. I felt at home with the vocabulary. Though Meldorath was the antagonist in this book, I loved his character. He was an antagonist worth reading about. I loved how the indigence of Magnum Caelum welcomed him. What he did at his uncle's forge showed he was a fast learner. I think a glossary of names would help readers remember most of the characters without having to go back.

This book deserves nothing less than a 4 out of 4 stars. The book was exceptionally well-edited. I found no errors. I would recommend it to people who love reading books that have magic associated with them.

Sounds like a book you really enjoyed. It seems to be quite popular. I think I'll pass, but thanks for the review.

The action was dramatic as you've stated. I also loved the incorporation of magic and the books fantasy. Nice review!

I know what's it's like to move from a bad situation to a worse one, so I'm pretty sure I'll relate well with garen's character. Nice review
