We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an incredible fantasy novel. Matthew Tysz creates a world where magic, science, and faith coexist in opposing harmony and disharmony. Voulhire is a kingdom that credits its immense wealth and power to inventions and advancement in science, magic, and faith. But Voulhire seems to be suffering from a case of an identity crisis. Does the kingdom's future lie in science, faith, or magic? Or does Voulhire's fate lie in the hands of a young, ordinary man from the warring Lands of the Princes? Galen relocates to Voulhire to run his late uncle's forge and finds his destiny lies with more than forging. The young man’s loyalty to his new home makes for a thrilling journey full of adventure and excitement.

The best part of the book is the author’s storytelling prowess. He has a way with words that allow the reader to create a vivid visual of events. The incredible detail in the scenes and scenery surrounding characters and events also go a long way in enhancing the reading experience. The use of multiple points of view also enriches the story. I was able to engage with the story from more perspectives than just the protagonist and antagonist. Typically, this would be a negative aspect for me, but Matthew Tysz pulls it off beautifully. Another positive detail is the inclusion of a map of the realm. The map came in handy when I was figuring out the lay of the land.

I also like the characters in the book. The author takes an interesting approach to character development. There are no characters that dominate the entire story. For example, Galen is one of the characters of great consequence, yet his storyline merges with the bigger picture as the book continues. Galen’s story begins independent of the politics and realities of Voulhire and slowly comes into focus as the plot advances. This approach enriches the story and allows readers to experience the characters before they plunge into the drama and excitement.

I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz 4 out of 4 stars. The book has an interesting plot with many captivating twists and turns. I think the editing is flawless because I did not spot any errors. The short chapters and multiple perspectives made my reading experience engaging and enjoyable. I must admit that reading this book has made me a fan of both the series and the author. I like an author with detailed and creative storytelling skills. There is nothing to dislike about the book.

I recommend the book to people who enjoy titles like Harry Potter. The fantasy, magic, and adventure will captivate lovers of fantasy novels. The story has a wide audience range because it has no sexual or religious content. Both teenagers and adults can enjoy reading the book.
