The laboring fishing town of Hilltop is changing. Change thrust upon them by their king, following oversight by two consecutive, despicable lords. Galen Bray is also experiencing change. Thanks to his uncle, whom he barely knew, Galen leaves his poverty-stricken homeland to Magnum Caelum, a town in the Kingdom of Voulhire. Voulhire is also homeland to Hilltop. Galen's inherited his uncle's entire estate, including his blacksmith shop.

Voulhire is an optimistic and plentiful land with thriving cities and villages. Their southern shores, of which Hilltop is a part, are an underdeveloped area of the kingdom. The king plans to end underdeveloped areas by making them prosperous, starting with Hilltop. He assigns one of the kingdom's most trusted judges to turn Hilltop around. Voulhire, like any land, has a dark and sinister underbelly. An underbelly that Hilltop, Galen, and Voulhire will have to face.

Meanwhile, Galen is acclimating himself to a new world with the help of Rowan. Rowan, hired by Galen's uncle, is tasked with finding Galen, transferring the estate to him, and assisting him in learning the ways of Voulhire. They find themselves on an adventure to acquire and identify an unknown metal that possibly possesses magical attributes. While on their quest Galen adapts to his life changes very well.

Hilltop, on the other hand, does not fair as well. Under the tutelage of their new lord, former judge Eldus, Hilltop is improving in leaps and bounds. That is until a long-dormant foe of Voulhire puts an end to it.

What lies ahead for Galen and the southern shores? You'll have to wait and see. If you ever find yourself in Magnum Caelum, visit the Tipsy Trollop. Maybe I'll tell you more.

According to the author, Matthew Tysz, he recommends reading the book like an episode of a story. Considering that, I read the book treating each chapter as a scene. In doing so, it made the story flow very well. It was fast-paced with a lot of action and optimism. I enjoyed the optimism of the kingdom of Voulhire. Except for the southern shores, most citizens are happy and prosperous. There isn't anything I disliked about it.

Rowan, Galen's guide, was my favorite character. He enjoys living life large and carefree. Sometimes Rowan is almost whimsical. But, he has a seriousness to him he rarely reveals. He knows his way around and makes Galen feel at ease.

Galen is also one of my favorite characters. He adapts quickly from a poverty-stricken young man to a well-to-do landowner. His essential travel items of yesterday are garbage today. He accepts his new life with humility, acknowledging the gracious gift of his uncle.

I rate Tysz's book 4 out of 4 stars. It was well edited, making it easy to read. I thought We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was well written and fun to read. It has an optimistic realism reminding us there is always hope if you strive for it. I plan to learn more about Voulhire. I'll be at the corner table in the Tipsy Trollop, enjoying a tall mug and the tales of traveling adventurers.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies</I> is an ideal book for those who enjoy a fun and exciting fantasy adventure. It is both well-written, imaginative, and mostly positive. Both teens and adults will find this an enjoyable book. There are scenes of violence, slightly graphic, throughout the book that may make it unsuitable for some readers.

Galen was my fab, however. The book was amazing and I'm glad you also did love it. Nice review!
