The great Queen Boudicca of Iceni Kingdom and widow of King Prasutagus was saddled with the responsibility of taking care of her kingdom, her husband's wealth, and her daughters. The Roman Empire was the world power during her reign, and they requested a negotiation of her husband's will. The inhumane treatment meted out to her and her daughters caused a revolution that shook the entire Roman Empire and made a history that had remained for years to come.

Boudicca's Vengeance is an excellent historical fiction book written by Richard Scholefield. The story was based on the British legend about Queen Boudicca, one of the known personalities who resisted the Romans. The author, through the help of ancient writing, was able to narrate the story and added some imaginary scenes so as to make it an interesting story.

There are beautiful aspects of this book that are noteworthy. Firstly, I loved that the book was arranged with topics of the different areas clearly indicated to enable the reader to have a proper understanding of what each chapter was essentially about. The novel could serve as a motivation to the girl child to believe in her ability to cause incredible changes as the protagonist was female and achieved remarkable feats during her time. More so, I loved that the author discussed the power of unity and cooperation in withstanding any form of negative force. It was equally beautiful to see how detailed the author was in giving information about the Britons in 60AD. The military part of the Roman Empire and how the Romans ruled the Britons were extensively discussed in the book. The characters in the book were used to describe different personality types and consequently train the reader to be mindful of how he related with people in real life. The plot twists in the book were also helpful in keeping up the suspense. Finally, the use of pictures and maps aided understanding of the book. Away from its fictionally engrossing parts, the book had great educational value, especially regarding history.

However, I did not appreciate that the book contained some elucidations that I felt weren't so necessary because they could cause some readers to become bored or lose their attention span and subsequently lose interest in the book.

I would give the book a four out of four stars rating. I did not remove any stars because Richard Scholefield delivered a very informative, educational, and generally interesting book. The book was also exceptionally well edited.

I will recommend Boudicca's Vengeance to lovers of history. Lovers of military-based books and self-development books will enjoy it. Also, it would be of great benefit to those going through pains and who need encouragement to stand up for their rights.
