Money Faucet by Joe Calderwood is a crime thriller set in Mexico and Miami. Clint Kennedy, a drug cartel money launderer in his 30s, is the protagonist. The story details his relationship with his family, his romantic relationships, and the significant and not-so-significant roles they played in his life. In Mexico, he got a call telling him something had happened in Miami. As a result, he had to travel down there. On getting there, he saw the unfortunate incident. This event would bestow on him a new responsibility. In Miami, he had an issue with a lawyer named Jessie Coulter and also formed a friendship with a surgeon at a hospital. Soon, he was informed that there was a lot of tension in the cartel. As a result, his boss told him to remain in Miami until he was given the go-ahead to come back to Mexico. Because of his financial constraints, he had to find a means of earning more money. He had to decide whether to accept the lawyer’s deal. After the incident with the lawyer, Jessie, all his plans seemed unattainable. Read this book to unravel the life of Clint.

The story gave details of each character’s life, their relationships, their work-life, and how they coped. For example, when Eddie, a character, was brought to the hospital, his surgeon, Laine Gordon, stayed with him to see if anything could be done to revive him.

I’ll say the book has many positive aspects. It had some humor in it. For instance, when Clint said that the nurse gave him a quick smile, it was as if the house would have been noisy if the smile had stayed any longer. Joe Calderwood did a great job of putting considerable effort into his plot characterization. The demographic descriptions of the characters gave me a deeper sense of connecting with the story. As a result, I felt like I was watching it on television. This was an exciting story told from Clint’s point of view, making it feel more like a narrative describing the personal experience of the writer than a fictional crime thriller. Since I found only an error, the book was professionally edited.

While being an exciting book to read, regrettably, the book has some negative aspects. I found some of their conversations unappealing. Most of the time, the characters used vulgar words in their dialogue, and it continued throughout the story. However, this is just my preference and has no bearing on my rating. Overall, I am rating this book four out of four stars.

The book is suitable for anyone who enjoys reading crime thriller stories and is not sensitive to the use of vulgar words. This is because they would find the storyline appealing. I will also caution readers that this book would not be perfect for someone who is homophobic.
