Enemies to Lovers OR Friends to Lovers

I believe that the enemies to lovers trope appears more attractive and intriguing when it's presented in movies or books but in real life it really doesn't work that well. If you think about it, having that sort of 'toxic' tension going between two people wouldn't lead to the best relationship. Instead, the friends to lovers trope makes more sense and it seems more realistic since it can actually happen in real life and lead to a somewhat healthy relationship. I like the enemies to lovers trope for the adrenaline it offers but the friends to lovers one is certainly more realistic.

I think relationships that form from an Enemies to lovers scenario are usually highly energetic but short-lived. Love is blind, and for two people to be enemies they have to too similar or extremely different. The polarity doesn't work for long term relationships. That's why I prefer friends ending up as lovers.
