Review of Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (French Edition)
[Following is a volunteer review of "Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (French Edition)" by Peter Liptak.]
Speaking the English language is not hard. However, some people will strongly disagree with this claim. These people may be those who are currently trying to learn English. I understand the struggle. I have been there before. However, one thing that can fast-track the learning process is idioms. Knowing them is one of the keys to having intelligent conversations with friends, family, and acquaintances. Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (French Edition) is one of the holy grails of idioms. It contains over 300 American idioms that everyone who speaks traditional French or English will find helpful. Peter Liptak translated every sentence from the English language to French. If you speak the language, this will help you learn English faster. Do not worry, Peter Liptak does not just provide these idioms in the book. He also teaches you how to use them properly.
Peter Liptak has won many awards in his field. I guess that is why I expected so much from his work. I can now see why he has been and will continue to be a recipient of different literary awards. Now, I would like to focus on this book for the rest of this review. Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (French Edition) is a must-read for every person who wants to understand why idioms are a big deal in the US. One good thing about this book is that the author wrote it in a way that makes understanding and quickly learning how to use them relatively easy. Also, as the title suggests, the author translated into French. He did this for the benefit of those that read French. I believe that this author is currently on a mission to translate this book’s content into as many languages as he can.
I liked the exercises that he gave in the book. I understand that this is very important in any book that seeks to teach its readers a skill. However, I did not expect them to come in the form they did. I was expecting more subjective questions with blank spaces to fill in. What I was not expecting were puzzles and stories. That impressed me. They are what I liked best in the book.
If the aim of writing this book was to make learning idioms as interesting and as easy as possible, then the author should sleep well and be happy at night. Why? Because he accomplished that. I did not find anything wrong with it. It was void of errors. It was simple, easy to understand, engaging, and interesting. So no, I did not dislike anything in Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (French Edition).
Like I said above, it was exceptionally edited. I did not dislike anything Peter Liptak wrote in this book. My love for it means that I should give it a perfect rating. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars for being simple and perfect. This should be read by French-speaking students and teachers interested in learning English. This version was, after all, written just for them.
