Review of What Would It Have Been Like
What Would It Have Been Like is a children's book written by Dain Taylor. The author writes about the "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King. He engages young readers to think about what the speech means and to incorporate their own pictures into the book.
What Would It Have Been Like is a thought-provoking and educational story about the speech given by Martin Luther King. In the book, the author focused on how scriptures used in the speech were inspiring for men and women and encouraged everyone to get along. His words make the reader think about how the speech impacted the country. The author includes a page where he says scriptures were used to touch lives to benefit all.
I believe this book would be best suited for older elementary children. Younger children would also enjoy it if an adult reads it to them. I think all children would enjoy creating their own pictures, but older children will understand the story better. Parents will also enjoy reading this with, or to, their children. Those who are not big on scripture will most likely want to skip this book.
I enjoyed reading this story. I found it to be inspirational. I liked how the author focused on the scriptures used in the famous speech. I also liked how the book is made of simple sentences with an easy flow of words. It is a short story, but it's also to the point. I feel the book is engaging and will keep a young reader's attention. The aspect of making an area for the reader to insert their own pictures is creative. It gives them the opportunity to express what they feel the story is about. I feel the author did an excellent job with this book. Overall, I didn't find anything to dislike about it.
I rated this book 4 out of 4 stars. It appears to be professionally edited and contains no errors. The story is short, but powerful. It is also educational for young readers. I found the book to be incredibly enjoyable and well-written. I would suggest it to others.
