Given how the past two years have been, it seems reasonable to see the similarities with the situation of the characters and lockdown. Might nor have been intentional, but the similarities cannot be denied.

In a way I could totally relate to the book. It somehow carried the events of the 2020 covid19 pandemic, when it put the world on total lock down. The isolation and unusual stares received when one would sneeze because of a mere cold was totally relatable. The book is a make believe

Yes it was a bit similar, the separateness of the characters and the isolation during the pandemic.

I could relate to the premise of the book--how the population changed and almost became obliterated--with the fears about whether the mRNA-type vaccine will alter human DNA and possibly prevent successful reproduction.

Honestly, I didn't relate the book to the pandemic but now that you've mentioned it, it's very relatable and I feel like the isolation and mistrust are a common theme in both.

I don't think the situations were similar. While it had similar emotions like mistrust and isolation, this book is not about the same thing; you cannot pretend that future did not happen, or you don't want to follow health and government recommendations. People didn't even create their own "nations" as they do in the book, people just started to hang out with people they truly liked (family, friends, or colleagues) instead of feeling forced to accept social invitations. Not everything is about the pandemic, and not every isolated person is doing it because of it.

Yes.
The mistrust sounds familiar to me; the way people felt uncomfortable around you when you had your mask worn wrongly, or the uncomfortable looks on people's faces when you sneezed in public or coughed....

The isolation aspect also hits home and how a lot of people just wanted to be in the company of their loved ones during that difficult time.

The struggle, separation and hope in this book shows it has a lot of similarities with the pandemic.

I think that the book has some similarities with the pandemic period; they were paranoid and that led them to remain with their families for security.

Interesting take on that. I wonder if we’re all fresh out of lockdown and still have strong feelings about things that aren’t necessarily “real.”

Yes, it definitely has some similarities with the pandemic. People are self-isolating, protecting themselves and being suspicious of others.
"You can be more aware and more present simply by resting in the present moment, open to all that is, without trying to control it or grasp it with the mind. Truly, a marvelous way of being!"

Yes, I agree. It parallels to the pandemic in matters like separation and isolation. The strange looks from people if you tried to cough, and the mistrust even between close people.

the book has a lot in common with what the world faced during the pandemic because of the isolation and the general mistrust everyone had of each other

There is no denying that there are many similarities. Judging by the release date, the author may have been influenced (or perhaps wrote it purposefully) consciously or unconsciously by the events. In any case, the pandemic is incomparably less severe than the events in this book. I think it's much more like Walking Dead.
