Bing Slaughter and Ron Slaughter are identical twins, but they look nothing alike. Bing sports a punk rock look while Ron wears a surfer look. Their History teacher, Brom, is a bully, hateful and evil. Most of the readers will agree on his nick-name, Split-Flecked Brommy. His opinions on inflicting violence as punishment are horrifying. The twins’ parents asked them to get a good SAT score or consider working at McDonalds.

Ron, Bing, Prathamesh “Meat” Kimitri (drummer), and Kaitlyn Krimpsen (keyboard player), are members of a band called Ephits. On the eve of the SATs, Ron and Bing were ready to jam and cram, but they didn’t know that it was going to turn into a bizarre and adventurous night.

The Slaughter twins are in the middle of the conflict between Servants of Darkness (SOD) and the evil golfers’ association. They need to rescue their friends Meat and Kaitlyn, from being sacrificed by evil golfers and also stop the apocalypse. Will they be able to rescue their friends? Will they make it before the SATs?

Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is an amazing novel. It belongs to the (C/T/M/H) genre. The author arranged the book into 22 chapters. It is told from the third-person omniscient point of view. Themes included in the book are heroism, friendship, responsibility, and courage. It also involves supernatural elements like sorcerers, monsters, demons, and trapped soul.   

The author’s writing style was inventive and fluid. Distinctive qualities and appearance of the characters made them more plausible and realistic. I liked the story setting. Keeping track of the storyline was relatively simple.

It’s an engaging and fast-paced story with just the right amount of horror and action. The book has comedic performance, violence with mild gore, and horror which is not intimidating. For example, the teenagers will fight with monsters, fall from crazy elevations, and carry on like it was nothing despite their dire physical state.

Heavy rains with ominous thunder claps and a blackout created the backdrop for something sinister to brew. I admired the wild theories that Bing had about dying from thunder. I couldn’t help but imagine that scene.

I give Demon Freaks an exact 4 out of 4 stars. The book is skillfully edited. I did not notice any typos or grammatical error while reading. There was nothing I disliked about the book. I recommend it to young adults looking for an action-packed fast-paced read. Fans of Fish Wielder will love this work as well.

I think this shoud be young adult. The thing that seems to make it so funny is that it's so implausible. Not the teacher"s views on punishment, i know lots that would fit right in.

Yes, it is young adult. It is like reading a cartoon action sometimes.

Here's the other two characters descriptions
Meat is a rich boy (not studious) who is a good drummer. He is funny and throughout his character is improving.
Kaitlyn has an high IQ and loves taking shower which makes her chronically delayed to classes, band practices and similar events.

I'd call it adventure with surprises and at every point. And yes, it does pack a lot of interesting elements.
