Thank you for the lesson. I have always struggled with using too many commas. Lately I've been utilizing "When in doubt leave it out"

Thanks a lot for clearing this out. This has proven really helpful. In the past, commas had proven to be quite difficult to grasp for me.

This was very helpful. Grammar has always been a struggle of mine but, this really broke it down. I hop I can continue to be a student.

Hello Scott, and hello everyone:

I agree that the whole lesson, especially about the comma being required before a conjunction joining two independent clauses is very useful and clear. I look forward to opening the links! Slightly confusing was the Oxford comma.

I would still like some advice on my following impressions regarding the Oxford comma.

A.
The comma that is not used before the 'and' in a list, if used, is an Oxford comma.

B.
If the Oxford comma system is espoused then it must be used only after the third item on the list* but not earlier.

Are the above correct?

Just for fun, I was self-consciously afraid to add a comma in the para above the above question after the word, 'list' (duly starred*) in the comment to your good self, but, normally, I'd snick it in, because I need a pause there. What's your take on that? I would say that the verb was implied.

Thank you for your time, care for discipline and all the respectful responses from your team.

Gulam,
The Afghan.

I’m a little confused as to why reviewers can’t mark the cases that are subjective as counted errors but can be marked down in reviews for them. If I join two short independent clauses without a comma, I have points deducted. Is this the most comprehensive guide to follow?
