Patricia's character evoked varying emotions in me. I'm sure the book would be a great read. Your review is explicitly written. Congratulations on being the BOTD.

The impact of substance abuse is not limited to the abuser only. Substance abuse affects family members, communities, and nations. This book offers a glimpse into the life of an addict and their immediate family. Imagine your child being expelled at school for almost killing another pupil or being called by your child in the middle of the night, begging you to pick them up after being kicked out. How about having to attend court cases so much that you lose count? This was Patricia Streets’ reality. In the book titled The Last Stop, she shares her and her son’s story.
I can't possibly imagine how hellish the situations you mention must be. However, I question the ethics of using David's personal texts without his consent. I understand he wanted to be an author, but that's hardly the same as publishing his personal thoughts.
Anyway, it must take a lot of courage to write such an honest account of such a hard situation, and I hope it brings some meaning or insight to people who are going through this battle.
Thank you for your review!

Most times when you read about addiction, it is from community level, and rarely in family, personal level. I think this book managed to bring it back to the personal level to show how addiction affects people you love. To attend court must be a searing experience.

I can't imagine what this author felt when her child became addicted to opiates. I also admire her strength in telling her story. I think this review portrayed the story beautifully. Good work.

I know what it means to be amputated in any part of one's body, the pain of living without a complete body can stay with you for the rest of your life, even when the pain is gone the emotional injuries will remain forever. What a painful experience Patricia pass through as a young teenager. Great review.

Another young life was brought to ruin. A single act of treating a toe with morphine necessitated by an accident results in addiction or substance abuse. How careful can a person be? What’s the cause of all these. Sometimes it is beyond our control and gets out of hand. Patricia and other family members are affected by David’s condition. This book is relatable. A family is the smallest unit of society. Therefore, a community may get involved or be affected unprecedentedly. Thank you for this great review. It is touching. Congratulations BOTD.

Stories like this are so sad. Drug addiction does indeed affect more than just the addict! To watch someone you love waste away from the abuse of heroin is heartbreaking. Thanks for the excellent review of this book!

Honestly, this is a good story. What amazes me is the fact that most people who are addicted to hard drugs today started from one prescribed medication and decided to go overboard. If you have watched the movie series 'Euphoria', you will perfectly understand my point. Although it is an abuser's choice to misuse drugs, at the end of the day, we all are affected. Losing a body part, or a loved one is really devastating, and even though we are not related, we are still connected in one way or the other.

Thank you for sharing the story too, it will serve as a lesson for all to learn from, and teach others.

Drug and substance abuse can affect anyone. The addiction can emanate anywhere, so this book is broader than just a tale. It nudges us to think deeper. I enjoyed your review!

I'm really sad to see that his addiction started because of a drug administered at the hospital, although it definitely is very hard to find an alternative when it comes to painkillers. But in the end, we must all remember that our choices can affect not just us, but those around us. Thank you for the insightful, poignant review!

Today's BOTD is a powerful, moving, and informative memoir about drug abuse, addiction, family, loss, and healing. Told from Patricia's perspective, readers see the world from her POV, a mother directly affected by her son's addiction to heroin both before and after his death. This is her story of pain, grief, loss, and unconditional love. I'm looking forward to reading this one! Thank you so much!! :-)
