I stopped at speed in the 80s before heroin was the popular drug of peers and moved to prescription drugs so I understand the frustration of the friends and family who don’t understand that it’s society. We don’t like it. Thank you for the review of a mother’s nightmare.

Wow! This review made me so eager to read this book. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like it. The fact that his work is at the end of it and finally gets to be published like he dreamed is so heartwarming. It’s so scary how addictions can start simply by being treated in a hospital, something you think of as safe. Definitely next on my list to read!

This is an important book. Drug addiction is a distant reality for many people who don't realize how close to home it actually is. I admire Patricia's bravery as she lays out the story of her son, David. "Laid it bare," as you said. Thanks for your review.

A mother’s account of her son’s story and trials of his life. A raw, honest memoir about her son. This includes scenes like drug abuse, grief and heart ache.

Drug addiction is a complicated problem that affects not only the abuser but the entire family and related people. I find it moving that the author shares these experiences, I believe that this book can effectively help addicts or their family members to face their own battle against drugs.

This book has a really tragic note to it. Having Children is difficult enough talk more of having one that is suffering from substance abuse. Drugs changes both parent and child. This book helps other struggling parents and children understand that they aren't alone. Sometimes, the experience of a stranger can serve as a big source of comfort for those going through similar things. I hope anyone going through such finds comfort in this book.

The Last Stop is a raw and heartrending story. The mother candidly shows through the story how drug addiction affects not only the addict, but also their relatives. The author honestly lays out the vulnerability and power it takes to overcome addiction.

This actually got me thinking. If using opiates medications to treat pain can trigger addiction, what other alternatives do we have. It's actually painful that a talented David was lost to drugs. I empathise with Patricia and the entire family. I would love to read this book. Thanks for this review

Addiction, amputation, affliction and affects all those "A's" has on one persons life. Sorry, but this kind of tales are what turned me from entire non-fiction genre. I don't find it inspiring or becoming to share private matters with strangers and because of it I will have to pass this book. Apologies and still congrats on BOTD!

This memoir sounds like it is well-written, and will hopefully help others who are dealing with drug addiction. I have added this book to my reading list. Great review!

Drug abuse affects more than just the addict. As a person raised by a former drug addict, both my sister and I fell doing the same. Thankfully, both of us have recovered, but our families suffered traumatically. We lost friends to overdoses and extended family members wanting no contact from us even now. I hope this book will help people understand how to deal with this epidemic. Nice review.

This memoir has two voices recorded, mother's and son's. This is about addiction and dealing with it. It has Innermost thoughts and struggles of an addict through his own words. It has the mother's sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly. and her successes and shortcomings as a parent of a child who abused drugs. It is authentic, honest and intriguing memoir. The book review is very good. Congratulations on the BOTD!
