The First Time Father: The Expectant Survival Guide For First-Time Dads Through Pregnancy Journey by Alfie Thomas is an educational book about pregnant women. Just like the name, it contains guides to help expectant fathers throughout their wives' pregnancies. Thomas starts this book by explaining what intending fathers are going to experience once their wives get pregnant and eventually give birth.

He narrated how his wife went into labor. He also explained that he was there to watch how mothers give birth. He went as far as describing how intending fathers can help alleviate the anxieties and pains of intending mothers. The book contains tips on how to be a caring and supportive husband to your pregnant wife, how to calm yourself during stressful times, and overall, how to parent a child.

I love the way Thomas separated his work. When explaining a particular thing, he makes it known by stating it as the heading of that particular chapter. He wrote this book in the most basic form of English. Even though this book contains some medical terms related to pregnant women, I could still understand and grasp them because of the way Thomas explained them. This book was written in an easy and comprehensible language. People who weren’t able to complete schooling would be able to understand this book because of the way it was written. The contents of this book really matched up to its name. It contains a step-by-step guide on how fathers journey through pregnancy. I am not an intending father, but once I get married, I would make sure my husband gets to read a copy of this book. This book, although educational, was written in a lively and entertaining manner. The author also made sure to make it more conversational; unlike most books of this nature, this book isn't one long boring read. It felt like I was having a conversation with Thomas. I never felt left out at any point while reading this book. In addition to that, Thomas wrote about how to prepare a room before the baby's arrival. The fact that the author passed through most of the things he talked about makes this book more beautiful. The book was written from most of the author's ordeals with his pregnant wife.

Although I found a few errors in this book, I do not consider it a negative aspect. I thought I would come across a thing or two I would not like about this book; however, this book seems to be without any negative aspects. I am really impressed by the author's wide range of knowledge on fatherhood.

Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I gave this book a perfect rating because I loved everything about it. Also, the few errors I found in it are not enough for me to deduct a star from my rating. Overall, this book was professionally edited. I recommend it to intending fathers. It would also be useful to fathers who want to learn new things about fatherhood.

I was never a father and my son is much older so I really don’t need this book. However, it sounds like it has loads of information that any expectant father would need to know.

This book has a lot of educational tips in it. Fathers would learn a lot about pregnancy from it. I love that the author included his own experiences with his wife in this book. I recommend this book to all the fathers out there.

I have read this book. I like that the author experienced most of the things he wrote down; this makes it more realistic for readers. I love that the author also wrote down his work in simple terms. Nice work!!!
