Leland Kane, a New York playwright and taxi driver, changed drastically after encountering a mysterious purple cube that time-jumped him to a prehistoric time to discover a futuristic civilization. A series of adventures ensued as he was caught between the distant past riddled with ancient racial feuds and a group of New York homicide detectives embarked on a quest to solve three murders.

Terrence McMurray pulled a good one here as he ensured the reader would be interestingly curious for most of this book. He constantly evoked a sense of wonder as I read through the pages. As one mysterious thing always led to another, this book piqued my interest immensely. Also, I liked the artistic blend of sci-fi and a minor crime drama, which gave the book a realistic appeal. Although there were little romance sparks, they never came to fruition, which I felt would have been a plus to this book. However, the writer achieved one of the main aims of this book, which was to provide solid entertainment value.

The author's writing style was simple and authentic. It was easy to grasp the written language, as the author used basic grammar and word delivery. Small Purple Cube could never have been more simple than what I read. The story's authenticity should be praised, as Terrence McMurray kept most parts of the book grounded in reality. There were realistic limits to the alien technology he described. He stuck to the rule of the world he created, making it very believable, as time travel was deemed too advanced and impossible for both worlds.

I noticed the writer avoided complex terms or circumstances that would warrant an in-depth knowledge of sci-fi elements like time traveling. He made sure not to get too scientific with this book, making it less complex. The storytelling skills were excellent, portraying Terrence McMurray as a prolific writer. Also, the character development was commendable. This blend of sci-fi and crime drama had thrilling plots with a lot of creativity rooted in the setting, especially the alien cities' descriptions. The writer did well on both aspects of the stories.

My only dissatisfaction with this story was the conclusion and that some characters were brushed off and were not revisited. Also, I wasn't satisfied with the title, as I believed something more artistic and symbolic would suit the book better. Little details about the purple cube were written, which might not be gratifying to curious readers.

The editing was exceptionally well done and worthy of commendation, as I encountered no errors in my reading course. Regardless of my dissatisfaction, I'd give Small Purple Cube a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I would highly recommend it to lovers of sci-fi stories and crime drama. Fans of light alien books would also enjoy it.
