No matter how much you love your job as an entrepreneur there will come a time when you will have no other option but to retire. So I would say both employed people and self-employed people all retire. The difference between both is the time difference.

Personally, I think every person deserves to get some
rest at a certain point in their life. Our whole lives, we work hard just to be able to live a decent life, and I do believe that at some point it takes a toll on you. Retiring doesn't mean you stop working completely, in my opinion it just means you work just as much as you want to, and not out of necessity or at a full time intensity. If you have worked hard for all of your life and spent your money wisely, you should be able to afford that as an entrepreneur.

I definitely think self-employed people should plan for retirement. While there is likely more planning involved to retire from your own business venture, retirement and the ability to enjoy life is key.

Taking a break is a must, even if you are an entrepreneur. Though the term retirement may not be appropriate in this case. Actively working can be minimized. I still think that those with an entrepreneur mindset would themselves be looking for ways to remain productive in life.

Entrepreneurs and people who run their own businesses are in a unique spot because they are self-employed. They should still retire but it should be when they feel ready and done with their work rather than when they cannot or as soon as they can.

While it is reasonable for the self employed to retire, I don't think it would be easy. Even when the business is left for others, you would still find yourself looking over the shoulder.

Marsha JJ wrote: 01 Jul 2022, 17:33 To answer your question, here's an idea. What if "retirement" is an outdated concept? If your work is really enjoyable, why ever stop? Some of the people in the world with the longest lifespans (such as in the Blue Zones), stay active in some form of work (such as farming, or gardening), and researchers have found that the sense of "community" their provides helps them to stay healthy and happy. So, I would say that whether you have a job, or are self employed, or are doing unpaid volunteer work or a working on a creative pursuit, as long as you enjoy it, why stop?
I think Marsha is right about this. If you really enjoy your job, why should you retire. You can still work as long as you are health and happy.

I believe that entrepreneurs should also take a retirement. This is due to the fact that at a certain age, one wants to take a break and savor the rewards of their labor. Additionally, when entrepreneurs retire, they make place for the urgent needs of younger ones in the same field..

Entrepreneurs should also retire and enjoy their life. They just need to hand over some tasks in their businesses to people. This will reduce their stress and create time for them to enjoy themselves.

Well as an entrepreneur it'll be really difficult for me to retire, I'll have to pass on my business to someone else which will be very hard for me.

I think people these days get so caught up in the race that people keep working till they die. Everyone should set a retirement age including self- employed, so people can enjoy life for once.

Yes. The author did. Everyone needs a retirement plan, whether an employee or entrepreneur. Since the entrepreneur is their own boss, they should make plans for when they can't be active in business anymore.

Yes! A friend of ours started his own business, and it was his "baby." So, finding someone to trust was incredibly hard for him because if he disagreed, it was his risk, not the other person's. Watching him struggle in this makes me wonder how hard it would be for an entrepreneur to retire. Maybe that's why business stay in the family much of the time!

Yes, entrepreneurs can resign because a good business can run itself with or without the boss.

Even if you own your own company, you still need to get away from your work every once in a while. It is conceivable to cut back on the amount of time spent working, even if the term "retirement" cannot be used in this context. To this day, I think that people who have an entrepreneurial spirit are always searching for novel approaches to enhance the calibre of their lives and the lives of those around them.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
