I think that answer would be different for each person and also for each line of work. Is the work physically demanding? If so then yes, you only have one body, and if you can afford to retire when you're in good health then that is important. If it's more mental and you get enjoyment out of it I see no reason that retirement is a must. Maybe they just cut back hours.

They need this retirement plan but who will stand in for them in their jobs if they do?
Well, I believe they will have definitely have to reduce workload and the amount of task they do but then, if you love your job, why reduce the amount of fun you do while working?
