Various animals come together to solve a despicable crime. Will they achieve their goals? Find out by reading Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi. A Siberian cat named Inca is the head of a detective agency made up of two cats, a dog, and a hamster. They are in Sri Lanka with their human owners, Mum and Solo. They enjoy the sights and sounds in Sri Lanka.

A despicable crime is committed. An antique sword is stolen from the Colombo Museum. Mum finds out about the theft through a newspaper. Solo, a reputable detective, is invited by the director of the museum to investigate the crime. Inca and her associates hear about the crime, and they are interested in it. In order to solve the crime, they recruit some local animals. Their suspicious neighbour is their main suspect. Will they be able to solve the crime?

Children will really enjoy the images in this book. Jorge Valle did an excellent job with the illustrations. I liked the pictorial representations of Cara and Meena. As I read through this book, I did not encounter any grammatical mistakes. The text is exceptionally edited. This book is entertaining and educative at the same time. The audience is entertained by the stories about crime-solving. As well, they are educated about the culture of other people.

I was pleased to observe that teamwork is a theme in this book. Different animals work together to achieve their collective goals. I love the organisation of this book. The story is executed with simple and short sentences, which makes it easy for children to read, comprehend, and enjoy.

I am not a big fan of books for children. However, I must confess that I enjoyed reading this story. The only thing that I disliked in this book is the mistake made in the drawing that is on page 36. The picture on that page depicts Terrance and Cara even though it is referring to a scene that involves Terrance and Inca. Despite this flaw, I still rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I have given it a four-star rating because the flaw is inconsequential.

Children that are between 5 years old to 10 years old will enjoy this book. Adults that love stories about animals will derive pleasure from this text. I urge adults that like stories that have been created for children to read this book.
